![]() Polar A4 Pulse Heart Rate Monitor Watch By: Polar Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 17 More Information great HR monitor, easy to use I bought this because I like the idea of using it without the chest strap. However, I use my chest strap (had from previous HR monitor) whenever I wear the watch for working out. My only complaint is that it is BIG, especially for a woman to wear. I was hoping with the basic color it could be my everyday watch so I could periodically check my rate. Alas, I only use it while working out then switch back to my womans sport watch. works but not all the time i find it that whyle runing the product dosnt give an accurate hr, it fluctuates a lot Good for price I wanted this watch to check my heart rate during exercise. So far, it has worked pretty good. I occasionally get an obviously wrong reading, but for the most part the readings are correct (or at least within a couple beats of accurate). The watch has a lot of other features, but I have not bothered to use them. Disappointing I purchased only the heart rate monitor watch and not the entire assembly which includes a chest strap monitor. The price was extraordinary, and the watch part works fine. Unfortunately, the heart rate mechanism is awkward to use and doesnt give accurate readings. I was very disappointed. Tooooo hard I thought I would like the " no strap" thing but I cant seem to get a good reading with this watch only type monitor. Been trying to see about buying a transmitter to convert to strap type monitor but they cost more than this watch. Live and learn I guess, but I havent totally given up yet. Polar A4 Pulse Heart Rate Monitor I am not happy with this product. The instructions are not clear, and the pulse monitor doesnt work right. Today I was on the treadmill. It went to 124 (oky) later as I stayed on the treadmill, it went to 114 (down with longer workout-no way), then it went to 35. So the longer Istayed on the treadmill, the lower it showed my rate just the opposite of what actually occured. I check my pulse using my neck pulse. Also, often when I try to check my pulse, it takes a long to time booting up, then it says "repress" After doing this three or four times, I fianlly give up and take my neck pulse. This is a bad buy! Good and simple and cheap Comes with a giant manual, but I just put it on and started using it. Works great! No Chest Belt Its a great quality monitor, just be aware it does not ship with a chest belt - apparently thats an accessory. Kind of like selling a car without tires! Finnish Technology I opened the watch and was eager to take it to the gym. After 1/2 hour of trying unsuccessfully to set the time (everything else seemed to work including my 180 heart rate!), I packed it up and shipped it back. I wanted to tell time and monitor my heart rate. Without being able to do both easily, the product didnt seem worth the money or additional effort. Don't waste your time... The idea is great, but it just doesnt work. It really gives erratic heart rate readings - very undependable... Heart rate monitor This product works well as a heart rate monitor. I use it in my spin class to get a quick check of my activity level. I like the fact that there is a backlight on the face so I can see the readings in the darkened spin room. Can't go wrong Easy to set, easy to use, works great, great price. I use it with a strap while I work out and I havent had any problems at all. I already had the strap because it worked with the monitors on the spin bikes I ride but it just didnt seem as accurate. I wanted a watch to go with the strap that was simple, cheap, and told me all my workout info (heart rate, time, calories burned, average heart rate, ect.) and this watch does it all. For the price, you really cant beat this watch. Much too confusing to "program" Im usually the one in my family that others come to for advice on all things electronic. So Ill give you the advice Id give them on this watch - - if you are a bit dim when it comes to learning the intricacies of getting complicated electronics up and running, then dont expect the instructions that accompany this doodad to enlighten you. I didnt return mine because I hate to admit defeat, but you just might, so save yourself the trouble and just learn to take your pulse the old-fashioned way; you know, the way the nurses do every time you go to the docs office? Using a watch with a sweeping second hand and the ability to count! No high tech monitoring for me! I wanted a heart rate monitor without a lot of features that I wasnt going to use. With this one it is quick and easy to check my heart rate while Im out walking, on the elliptical trainer or even sitting at a red light in traffic. Only takes a couple of seconds. The numbers on the dial are large and easy to read. Worked well for me I work for Polar and have used almost every one of these monitors . Before this product went for sale on Amazon I had tested it for three weeks with all good results . I personally use it with our chest strap transmitter for workouts and this is when it works best and gives continuous Heart Rate readings . Once done with the workout , I remove the cheststrap transmitter and go back to using the finger touch pulse reading as a guide to seeing my recovery and normalizing heart rate . Sometimes I check the pulse rate to see the effects of sleep, hydration, stress , nutrition etc... Just eating a salty meal makes the numbers go up...Or when my favorite team is not playing well on TV..... I Love It! For the money I think you really cant beat this watch. I use it three times a week when I do my laps and I really like it - not to mention it is very accurate. I would definately recommend this product! Quirky and Unreliable I bought this watch as a gift for my husband 5 months ago. It froze up within the first 3 months (display froze and it would not tell time). I returned it and got a replacement. My husband has since developed a theory that the problem is static electricity that it picks up through the pulse sensor. The new watch also freezes, but he has developed a technique for restarting it. This involves having to totally reset the date and time. It being winter and cold at the moment, there is a lot of static electricity around. Yesterday the watch malfunctioned and had to be reset THREE times! When it works and there is no static electricity, the watch tells time and can sense pulse rate, but unless you live in a fully grounded environment or really enjoy resetting the watch constantly, I would avoid this product. I Love It! For the money I think you really cant beat this watch. I use it three times a week when I do my laps and I really like it - not to mention it is very accurate. I would definately recommend this product! |
