dead watch in less than a month     On: 2008-04-28

After less than a month in my possession this Luminox dive watch stopped cold. I only actually wore it maybe 5 times. Now I have to deal with it. I will never buy another Luminox watch. The tritium on this watch is brighter than any other I have seen but it doesnt matter how well you can read it if the watch has stopped does it? I was warned that Luminox watches are not reliable. Now I am living the experience. Avoid them!

luminox makes an AWESOME watch.....sturdy /durable     On: 2007-11-29

I purchased THE LUMINOX Original Navy Seal Diver watch #3003 (blue face) for my sons 13th birthday... at his request. He is always outside building/working on things, hunting, camping etc. and is really rough on his belongings. This watch has been a parents dream!!! My purchase was 3 years ago and I am now buying a new watch band for it(it deteriorated, a normal occurance with sweating etc.) BUT NOT COMPLAINING!!! Before this watch he went through 2-3 watches a year totaling more than the cost of the Luminox. You can see the numbers in the middle of the night without pushing a button or turning on a light....It is BRIGHT!!! From responsible youth to grandparents... I strongly recommend this watch.
not the watch pictured     On: 2006-12-29

I ordered the Luminox 3003 watch based on the Amazon picture shown. This watch is not the watch received. In the description it says this watch is like the original 3003 with a new face. Is the one pictured the original?? I have no idea what the original looked like. I am very disappointed and angry that I have to pay shipping and a $10.95 restocking fee.
A superb casual watch     On: 2005-10-28

The basic Luminox watch is a superb day watch. Although I am on my second one in eight years, this may be a record, as I am not gentle with watchs. The first ones crystal cracked, but the second one is driving on like a champ.

Pros-
The luminous stuff on the hands and face (tritium vials) is bright. I mean really, REALLY bright. None of this hold it under a light" silliness, but wake up at three thirty in the morning and have no trouble reading it.
The twelve oclock tritium vial is orange not green, acting as an index point even in complete darkness. See remark about 0330 hrs.
The bezel can be turned reasonably easily, but wont turn by itself when you are not looking.
Accuracy is good.
Shock resistance, overall durability is very good (damage to my first watch was purely my fault and exceeded any reasonable expectation of survival).

Cons
The Navy SEAL propaganda can be mildly annoying.
The bezel is synthetic (plastic), and after two or three years of use starts to go smooth and the numbers start to wear off.
The luminous stuff on the hands and face (tritium vials) is bright. I mean really, REALLY bright. This con is a special case. If a service member wants to wear this watch in the field, one of those watchbands with the flap to cover the face is a REALLY good idea.
The synthetic strap isnt so good. I replace the watch band with a nylon/velcro one on the first day.
The little compass that comes with it is a wasted effort, get a Suunto watchband compass. Same size, superior in every way.

On the whole, a tremendous value for money, and when I abuse my current one beyond usefulness, I will certainly get another one.
