![]() Omega Men's Diver 300M Chronometer Series Seamaster Watch By: Omega More Information Only three small criticisms Id give this a 4 1/2 if I could. Three small criticisms: (1) The scalloped rotating bezel (as opposed to a coin edge rotating bezel found on other watches) is tight and hard to grasp without slipping if the watch or your hands are wet. Not a real big deal to me, but might be to someone who actually intends to use it in the water. (2) I would like to see a little bigger illuminated dot on the second hand. (3) The bracelet clasp scratches easily, but its not real noticeable and easily buffed out. Otherwise, a big, heavy, solid, comfortable beauty. The bracelet is the best Ive ever seen on a dive watch. The Superluminova hands and markers glow all night if charged for a minute or two. Compared to equivalent models from Rolex, Breitling, Tag Heuer, a real value for the price. The King of Watches - a superlative timepiece... I received this watch for my 40th birthday, and frankly, cannot imagine being parted from it. The first thing you notice when you first hold this watch is the weight. It feels comfortably solid, but not overly heavy. Mine is the self-winding Professional Chronometer model. It comes in a beautiful red leather box with a variety of credit-card style certificates and serial numbered warranty cards, and an Omega book. This watch will go down to 300m. There is actually a pressure release valve close to the 10 oclock position that allows divers to equalise the pressure in the watch (at those depths theyd be breathing helium!). I dont think I will ever use this feature! The watch displays the date only. My former watch also displayed the day, which I thought was handy. I missed it at first by have got over it. The glass, being made of sapphire, never scratches. Four years on and intensive wear in the surf, workshop and gym and it is still unblemished as the day it was made. Not even the faintest hint of a scratch or wear anywhere! The crown screws down to ensure water-tightness, and pulls out two stops - one to set the date and all the way out to set the time. The case and bracelet are made from high-quality stainless steel. The band has a feature enabling it to be extended in order to wear it on top of a wetsuit without the user having to get it adjusted each time. The back of the case bears the famous Omega Seamaster sea-dragon engraving. The face is beautifully simple to read and very easy on the eye. It has the distinctive Seamaster wavy lines engraved, and clear hour markers that glow very brightly for hours in the dark. The face comes in blue or black. Mine is black. As part of the Certification by the Swiss Society for Chronometers, it underwent a 30-day trial in various positions and at different temperatures. Each watch spends a few days in a refrigerator (in various positions), in an oven at 30 degrees, and at room temperature. If the watch gains more than 3 seconds or loses more than 6 seconds in that 30-day period, it is rejected! Bear in mind, this is a superlative example of engineering! It is NOT a quartz watch. There are NO digital electronics. This is a mechanical marvel that someone has painstakingly assembled to exacting requirements to deliver a timepiece as close to perfection as you could possibly hope for. As you would expect from a Swiss watch of this price and quality, the second hand movement is a continuous sweep, not a definitive tick like other watches. So there you go. Quite simply the King of Watches. Forget Rolex, theyre too pricey and everyone assumes its a fake. Unfortunate, but true. |
