I have bought 2 since as each of my boys attain the age of 21 years and they are both as proud of theirs as I am of mine. They are fabulous. A Rolex speaks for itself. What could I add? Well, for starters, Ive had my Explorer II for about 12 years now. It has been serviced three (yes, I said three) times. The first time was due to it not keeping time when I bought it. Brand new, from an authorized Rolex jewelery store, this thing was losing an hour every minute. It went to New York for service at no charge. That took five weeks. Then, after six years of daily wear, the crown wouldnt wind it any longer (it is an automatic, but if you take it off for the weekend, it will never see Monday without winding). That cost $500 for the "Five Year Overhaul" (youre supposed to get them serviced every five years). I was without a watch for five weeks. Well, four years after the first overhaul, it needed another one because of the same issue with the inability to wind. That was another $500 for another servicing. And another five weeks without a watch. Thats $1000 in 12 years just to keep it ticking. Save your money, buy a Seiko. They may not be as "classy" but they work, all the time. |
