![]() ESQ by Movado Men's 7300970 Octane Chronograph Rubber Strap Watch By: ESQ by Movado Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 5 More Information Poor wristband quality The watch looks great. The body is durable. In three years, with little use the wristband has required replacement twice. The design of the clasp at first seems like a great idea but the problem is, is that it is easy to pinch (or fold) the wristband. I do not like having to put much thought into putting on my watch.....if you are not careful pinching the rubber wristband will cause it to break apart. I am hoping I can find an alternate wristband for this watch. Poor quality watch that does not last I have this exact watch with the black carbon fibre face. The watch comes with a black rubber watchband that has starting cracking after 18 months of part time use. I purchased the ESQ Octane watch because I liked the LCD display built into the watch face. This displays the date or can be used as a timer or as a 2nd time zone if you travel frequently. The LCD display worked fine for about 16 months but the numbers on the display have started fading out. I replaced the two internal batteries but the LCD display did not improve. The LCD display is now so faint it is unusable. Overall I am very dissapointed in the quality of this watch. After further investigation I learned that ESQ is a budget line marketed by Movado. The ESQ watch only comes with a 1-year warranty and it is obviously built with that in mind. ESQ advertises a Swiss movement but my watch repair specialist told me the stainless steel case is made in China. I wear this watch about four days a week to the office and it was not subjected to any rough conditions. ESQ Octane - Blue Face I have this watch, and it works great. However I barely use it, still in new condition and am selling it at very reduced rate. For inquiries, email me at pmbanas@yahoo.com nice and confy! this is an excellent everyday watch, the rubber wristband feels like silk and has all the functions youll need. the only complain is that the dial is a little bit hard to read in low light conditions, but anyway this watch is not intended for hicking or trekking. (go for a digital Casio if you are a "survivorman" kind of guy) great value for the price! Affordable Swiss design and craftsmanship Im a fan of the ESQ Swiss line. Its a brand in the Movado family, but - in comparison to the groups signature brand - it gets you into some very nice Swiss design and craftsmanship at a comparatively low price point. The Octane sits at lower-end (price-wise) of the current ESQ range of offerings. And, with its rubber band and small digital display that features a chronograph, you can wear it as a sleek alternative for your workouts. Its a nice, attractive, occasional alternative to the myriad of Nike and Timex sportswatch offerings. Yes, Ive got my Timex Ironman, too, but I get no special thrill from strapping it on. Six months on, I still get a kick putting on my Octane. I have very small wrists (thanks, Dad), so the diameter of a watch is very important to me. I see these guys on the street with watches that look like they could double at satellite dishes. I just cant wear those - they would look ridiculous on my puny forearm, and would just plain hurt as they jam into my pisiform. The Octane is 42 mm in diameter, right at the limit - 1 or 2 mm more would fail the test for me. I opted for the blue face - striking but not garish. The black was a bit too pedestrian, the red hard to come by these days (couldnt locate it on Amazon, for example). ESQ seems to be phasing out this model - I can find it on the official ESQ Swiss web site, but its buried deep into a list of 44 mens models. The newer offerings are stepping up some in price. Its latest releases top $1,000 in SRP. |
