![]() ESQ Men's Octane Watch #07300970 By: ESQ Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 2 More Information nice and confy! this is an excellent everyday watch, the rubber wristband feels like silk and has all the functions youll need. the only complain is that the dial is a little bit hard to read in low light conditions, but anyway this watch is not intended for hicking or trekking. (go for a digital Casio if you are a "survivorman" kind of guy) great value for the price! Affordable Swiss design and craftsmanship Im a fan of the ESQ Swiss line. Its a brand in the Movado family, but - in comparison to the groups signature brand - it gets you into some very nice Swiss design and craftsmanship at a comparatively low price point. The Octane sits at lower-end (price-wise) of the current ESQ range of offerings. And, with its rubber band and small digital display that features a chronograph, you can wear it as a sleek alternative for your workouts. Its a nice, attractive, occasional alternative to the myriad of Nike and Timex sportswatch offerings. Yes, Ive got my Timex Ironman, too, but I get no special thrill from strapping it on. Six months on, I still get a kick putting on my Octane. I have very small wrists (thanks, Dad), so the diameter of a watch is very important to me. I see these guys on the street with watches that look like they could double at satellite dishes. I just cant wear those - they would look ridiculous on my puny forearm, and would just plain hurt as they jam into my pisiform. The Octane is 42 mm in diameter, right at the limit - 1 or 2 mm more would fail the test for me. I opted for the blue face - striking but not garish. The black was a bit too pedestrian, the red hard to come by these days (couldnt locate it on Amazon, for example). ESQ seems to be phasing out this model - I can find it on the official ESQ Swiss web site, but its buried deep into a list of 44 mens models. The newer offerings are stepping up some in price. Its latest releases top $1,000 in SRP. |
