 Accutron Men's York Bracelet Watch #26B35 By: Accutron Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 2 More Information Well Made, Nice Size, But No Ilumination to Speak Of  On: 2007-06-08Ive only had this watch for maybe 2 days. I bought it here from Amazon. (Annoyingly, the battery was dead when it arrived in the mail, but I replaced it.) I wanted a Swiss quartz watch with a sapphire crystal, and I didnt want anything too large like so many of them these days. This watch is well made, but Im not thrilled about look of the band--slightly overwrought for me. (It functions well, though and the butterfly clasp is high-end.) Also, its nearly impossible to read the face in the dark; there is some luminescent material, but its not doing much. Still, it has a nice look thats formal enough for a suit (and will match a platinum wedding band) but is not too flashy for work. The patterned dial is very subtle. The watch was a fantastic deal ($157! for some reason--others are 250-480 as of this writing), and I should be happy with it overall. The alarm is a nice feature, though its not overly loud. I wouldnt depend solely on it to wake me up. If youre considering this watch, also look at the Tissot Ballade and the Hamilton Jazzmaster Quartz and maybe the lower-end Movados (e.g., Movado Gentry). I also considered a Seiko Premier. Excellent watch  On: 2007-05-29This is an excellent watch at a remarkable price. Accutrons are finely-made Swiss watches, with 5 year factory warranties (Amazon warrants the watch for 5 years when you buy from it, because it is not an Accutron retail store). The case and band are solid stainless steel, perhaps a little heavy but not overly so. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (in the owners manual it says that the watch can be worn swimming). It has an alarm that is easily set and works fine. The face is deceptively simple. It actually has a texture like fine checkering on a shotgun, and separate markings for the alarm. The exterior quality of the watch equals anything Ive owned before, including Rolex and TAG-Heuer. This is a great deal and Im delighted with the watch. |
