Very poor customer service by Amazon for this item     On: 2008-01-23

I would give the watch itself a higher rating, but after four contacts with Amazon customer service, I still havent received the instruction manual and my husband is not able to fully appreciate his gift since its quite technical to learn without any instructions. We found some basic instructions on the Tissot website (no thanks to Amazon), and were sent a second copy of the Tissot catalog, but still no instruction manual. I would recommend that, although the price is great from Amazon, folks look elsewhere for this watch so that they can actually use it as more than just a time keeper.
TISSOT MENS T TOUCH     On: 2008-01-12

I fully recommand you this product. This is a very high quality watch and the package included was really appreciated !
This was a Christmas Gift, and it has been wrapped careful for a low price, thanks for that.
I am most of my time in Europe because of my job, and I was happy to receive this gift within the TISSOT ORIGINAL Package, wonderful red box of the BRAND.
You wont regret your purchase, go ahead, the price is already a gift !

dressier outdoor watch     On: 2007-11-30

The watch provides a dressier appearance than Casio or Suunto outdoor models with temp. altimeter, barometer and compass functions. A dial illuminator would definitely be nice.
Here are two important points:
1. No watch of this type can give ambient air temperature without removal from the wrist and allowing enough time for equilibration.
2. It is inherent in all pressure altimeters that once the correct altitude is set, this setting will be accurate for only a few hours. Since altimeters work by sensing changes in atmospheric pressure as you change elevation, normal pressure changes caused by high and low pressure weather systems will register as altitude changes also, so the altimeter must be constantly calibrated (every 3 or 4 hours) to compensate for this.
5+ Years of Great Experience     On: 2007-11-22

Im about to order another T-Touch as a gift. I live outside of Vail, Colorado and my watch has been a faithful companion to the top of many 14,000 peaks, dunked in cold trout streams in Alaska, dipped in salt water and used as a compass on the flats of the Bahamas. Its clearly the most popular multi-function watch of outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen (and women) in our community. I see a lot of others on friends wrists and all are happy owners. One of the complaints Ive read about is having to reset the altimeter. Because altimeters work on barometric pressure, of course you have to be cognizant of recalibrating. Ive often watched the variance in altitude display change during a change of weather. So after five years of hard use I can happily say that this watch has been the best one Ive ever owned. Still on the original battery and no scratches on the crystal!

Reasonably "Okay" Watch     On: 2007-08-30

I bought this watch from Amazon about 45 days back for $ 390 + Shipping. When I got my watch I was all excited about the features it had to offer and wanted to write a review immediately (when I would have rated it exceptionally). I resisted myself to see how I would feel about the watch after 45 days. This is the first Tissot watch I owned, and the reason I chose Tissot was due to my pleasant experience with Swatch analog watches I owned previously. When I was looking around for a digital-analog combination, Tissot T-Touch looked like a best choice, reasonably priced and made by a trusted Swiss company. Though I am not a big technogeek, I prefer to get latest gazettes with some really cool features. Tissot T-Touch with its crystal touch feature definitely caught my attention, which I initially thought was a cool thing to show off to my friends and strangers.

Coming to the functions in the watch, I hate to constantly recalibrate the Altimeter on my watch as it frequently keeps recalibrating itself. The place where I leave is close to the ocean and I am about 541 feet above sea level. When I adjust my watch to this reading, it keeps pretty good accuracy for couple of hours. But when I comeback to the same spot a day or two after, the readings fluctuated between 375 feet to 730 feet on two different days. The thermo feature on the watch, as others have mentioned in their reviews, works to show the surrounding temperature only when you are not wearing it for 30 minutes or more. When the watch is on my wrist it always shows the average of surrounding temperature and my body temperature. Though I havent found much use for meteo (barometric pressure) feature, my watch shows not so great correlation with the actual readings (The last time I checked the pressure was 993 hPa on my watch while the internet weather reported 1016 hPa for my place).

The alarm feature on the watch is cool (none of my previous analog watches had this feature and I am not a big fan of digital watches). Chrono feature is displayed and works in digital format. The feature I have used extensively is the `compass, which shows the magnetic north and south. This can be especially useful for someone with `outdoorsy type personality. The watch is a bit heavy (which I like), due to its rugged steel casing and fits well on my wrist.

Other than this I feel that the watch is reasonably okay. Please do not buy this watch for its features, as the sensors on the watch are not so reliable, except for 1 or 2. If you are looking for a nice Swiss watch priced in the low end of the medium range, with a rugged look and which fits nicely on to your wrist, Tissot T-Touch is for you.

The watch looks awesome. However, I did not like the engineering as it clearly is not reliable. None of the functions on the watch seem reliable. The box did have all the unwanted things except the most important thing - Brochure. I hated it so much since for a $400 gadget not to have the utmost important thing was ignorance on the part of Tissot. This is an irresponsible behavior on the part of Amazon as well, since they dont maintain any standard to be delivered to its customers.
The most balanced men's watch     On: 2007-03-26

If you are looking for a watch combining style, beauty, comfort, swiss-made, quality and rich functionality, the Tissot T-touch is your best choice. Many watches of higher price offer no more than two or three of those characteristics. But the most impressive of the T-touch is the technology behind: all the functionality simply at the touch of your finger and presented both in analogic and digital way! For some of my friends it looks like magic...

I have many fine watches in my collection, but once I started to use the T-touch, by far, it became my favorite.

I have only some suggestions for future versions:

- Backlight.
- Second city date and time.
- A more intelligent algorithm to correct the effect of body temperature in the thermometer.

Excellent choice     On: 2007-01-10

You might not guess just from looking at it, but the Tissot T-Touch feels just as at home in the woods, in the mountains, or on long treks as it does in the office or at a cocktail party. The T-Touch combines good looks, rugged functionality, and impressive innovation in way you rarely see in the watch world.
not for the 'real' outdoors person     On: 2006-08-01

i bought mine at a jewlry store and was glad i did because of the problems ive had. it has been back for repair 3 times each time for more then a month. finally this last time the store insisted on new internal parts, i sure hope they did this. if you spend time outdoors i do long distance biking this watch is one you should avoid, its strictly for the wannabee outdoorsman one that looks the part but doesnt actually get stinky. the first repair the compass was bad the second was the analog hands stopped spinning and the third would not sync meaning the analog and digital times were different. get a sunto or a timex or something if you really do go outside. i give it 2 stars cuz of the cool name otherwise it would be less.
Don't bother - get a Casio instead     On: 2006-01-22

The advantages of this watch: "gee wow" touch screen, heavy construction, sapphire, staus and prestige of the brand name.

The disadvantages:
* the digital display is often obscured by the analogue hands.
* the digital display is rudimentary - poor format for date, digits only.
* no countdown timer.

The competition:
If you really want a watch that does all the things routinely expected of a digital watch plus temperature, altitude and compass, look at Casio and Suunto. They have several models that do it all, with a clearer, more easily read display plus extra features like recording temperature and altitude. And they are cheaper.

In summary, the Tissot is for status, but if you want a tool that will do the job, get a Casio or Suunto.

I have had the Tissot for about 2 weeks. I will sell it and go back to my 15 year old Casio Alti-Thermo.
Nice Watch     On: 2006-01-10

I received this watch about four months ago. I still love it. Yes, as the previous review says, the altimeter needs to be calibrated constantly to get an accurate reading and the thermometer is only accurate when not wearing the watch (its still handy though), but all the other functions work great. I find the compass most useful (and fun). The alarm and chronometer (stopwatch) work as advertised. The meteo takes some getting used to. I havent found it very useful yet, but Im still working it out and havent given up on it yet.

Also, its a great looking watch that I just enjoy wearing. Overall, this is the best watch Ive ever owned - by far.

One star because it keeps time...     On: 2005-12-18

... and one because the compass is neat.

The other functions are worthless.

If you read the instruction manual it tells you that, for example, the watchs thermomter will give the most accurate reading "30 minutes after you take it off." Otherwise, I guess it is 986 all the time... But who is willing to way 30 minutes?

The altimeter is even more comical. I live in Guam and would wear it to the beach every day where it would always tell me I was 100 feet below sea level. I would adjust it and get the same reading the next day. Regarding the instruction manual, it says the altimeter will be most accurate if it is calibrated regularly by setting it to a known altitute. But if you know what the altitude is in order to calibrate your altimeter...
