![]() Freestyle Shark Tide Men's Action watch #81690 By: Freestyle Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 4 More Information Good so far I have had this watch for approx. 2 years now and it has worked fine. The tide function is very accurate for the area i live in which is NC. The only problem I have had with it is the band broke and I had to replace it. Other than that it has worked well. Good until it started breaking repeatedly. Bought this in 2003. Worked great, comfy, durable, and sleek at first. [Tide function neat, though unlike the new Quiksilver watch, it doesnt give absolute height of tide] Less than a year after I bought it, the backlight stopped working. I sent it in for repair -- they charge $8.50 for processing and handling and take over a month to fix it. A year later, the band was disintegrating, so I sent it in for a new band. More $, and another monthlong job. After that, moisture on the inside started clouding up the face, making it unreadable. I sent it in for repair. (Time and money lost again). Three months later, the same problem - wet inside and not working. (You get the idea). I actually surf in this, though I take care of it, rinsing it off after use, etc. So, this thing was OK for almost a year, then turned into an extremely unreliable watch that causes me a lot of trouble when I try to have it fixed under warranty. Hey dude, where's my tide chart? Ive had one of these watches for about two years. While its fine as far as watches go, be careful where you want to use it. It does not have all the tide charts that are listed in the owners manual. I know for a fact that it does not have the Seattle/Puget Sound area in it, even though the manual says it has several beaches in that area. Which by the way is one of the reasons I bought the watch, as I used to scuba dive there. I contacted Freestyle about this, and they said they were aware of the problem, yet they didnt feel it necessary to do anything about it, or inform potential customers. So sorry. Before you buy one, go to a store and try to find the tide chart you want in the watch itself before you buy one. If it has the charts you want, great. Its a handy feature to have, and otherwise a fine watch. Just bought it yesterday I just bought it, but when I started messing around with it, this is truly a functional watch. I live in NJ, and it has all the locations i need for the tides, which is information that is a must for a surfer (always need that incoming push). I will move to England in August, and it has the tides for there, and other parts of Europe, so im set. I never give 5 stars, but this watch is a good buy. |
