No matter if Im dressed up or dressed down, it always looks solid and classy. It certainly fits very comfortably and is easy to wear overnight. The backlighting is excellent for being able to see in the dark, either directly in semi-dark room, or residual glow for dark-adapted eyes. The red-blue compass needle makes for a very cool looking visual element on the watch, but proves to be very handy, especially when driving in unfamiliar areas. OK Watch, Useless Compass  On: 2007-02-07All I can say about this watch is that it keeps time and has a nice Indiglo backlight. The compass is useless. Every time Ive calibrated the compass it seems at first to be OK, but a few days later its way off again. I made sure not to store it near any metallic or magnetic objects, but it still goes bonkers. Now it wont even calibrate any more - when I rotate the watch 360 degrees in the horizontal plane after "calibration", the compass needle wont turn a complete circle. Yeah, this watch is much cheaper than other compass watches, but the compass is useless and its expensive for a cheap watch. If you want a compass watch that works, get a Casio or Suunto - much more money but actually functional. Outdoor watch  On: 2007-02-01I bought this one to add to a starting collection of compass-watches. Well in term of functionnalities this is a very good watch. Reading is in a blink of an eye, the compass is very accurate but a little tricky to calibrate. Indiglo is the best for night reading but a little short when using the compass in real situation. Very comfortable to wear, fits all wrist (even wrists of guys who like to chop wood in the deep forest...)Beware the wristband is not standard and has to be replaced with one of the brand. To Sum up, a very good item for its price like every timex expedition line of products. Compass watch  On: 2007-01-05Quality timepiece with an accurate compass that resets to zero after each use. Remember to dial in the North declination from TRUE during setup. Watch your pockets! On: 2006-11-10Received watch in good shape and in timely manner. I did notice that is was heavier than a normal watch. I followed the directions to set the compass and everything was working fine. After wearing a few times without using the compass I had need to use the compass and noticed right off that north was not where the compass was pointing. Finally figured out that when I put my hand in my pocket I was moving the stem and pushing buttons and the alignment was getting reset. Now I have to remember to check things whenever I put my hand in my pocket and I havent had any problems since. All things considered it has been a good purchase. Fun while traveling On: 2006-10-01Im happy I bought this watch. Its easy to read, fun to use, and the compass is reasonably accurate. There are a few things that set this apart from other watches: 1) it is 1/2" thick 2) the watch needs to be LEVEL for the compass to give a reliable reading. 3) If you use the compass heavily you will use up a battery - mine lasted 90 days during the "play" period; but I used it daily and multiple times. 4) changing the battery is not as easy as with other watches I own. The battery itself is held in a special mount, a tiny screw driver is required to remove and install it, and the back is VERY hard to snap back in (I eventually used a Bessey glueing clamp to get it to "snap" back in.) Watch shops have a special press for doing this. 5) the watch is quite heavy (2.7 oz vs 1.1 oz for a similar sized dress watch) Im very satisfied with it and would buy it again. It fits compfortably on my wrist, and is a pleasure to wear. My 11 year old son thinks its pretty cool, and it looks nice enough to wear for general use. Awesome watch On: 2006-03-03This watch does everything just right. The compass is classy, and easy to calibrate. And it looks wonderful on my wrist. Bravo! Directionally Correct On: 2006-03-01The Timex Compass watch looks nice, fits well, and performs as expected. Id recommend this a a gift for the outdoors person. |
