Because of the angle of mickeys hands, it is a bit tricky to figure out how to read the time with mickeys hands. Once you get it figured out though, its easy to read the time. I initially thought that how you tell time with this watch, is to point mickeys thumbs at the numbers. That didnt work so well. Then I figured it out, that you point the tip of mickeys middle finger at the numbers. Once you get it down, it is easy to read. The only thing that I think that the makers of this watch should not have done on this mickey design, is etch one of mickeys ears. I know that they were trying to make him look vintage, but it didnt quite work. It makes it look like a flaw in the design. The design would look vintage without the etched ear. For this reason I gave this watch 4 out of 5 stars. Anyone should be happy with this watch, as it is an awesome, quality watch for the price. See that ugly mark on Mickeys ear that looks like faulty enamel? Thats really the watch design. It really looks like that -- on purpose. When I got the watch, I thought it was defective. It was surprising, because its made in Japan and that usually means good quality. I guess is still does mean good quality, because its supposed to look like that! Why? I dont know! It doesnt make any sense. Buy this watch only if you want to look at it on your wrist and wonder every time why they would bother designing a watch to look like it has a faulty enamel job. The seller told me its the "vintage look"! That still doesnt make sense to me. They should have designed the watch to look like it did originally, and not like it did after 50 years of wear and tear. I originally gave this watch a much more negative review, but I am starting to accept it, even if I think it was a bad design decision. The problem is, its still the best-looking Mickey watch design out there today. The rest all seem made for seven-year-olds. But this is really kind of a Mickey Mouse watch! The face does not light up, the shape of the hands make accurate reading an impossibility, and worst of all, it doesnt keep time! Dont waste your money. When I saw this one I had to have it, because on top of all my requirements the look is so vintage! The watches face has a raised figure of Mickey Mouse in vivid colors on an antique white color background. Mickeys left ear is a little bit distressed on purpose. The watch band is of leather like black color with white stiches and has Mickeys cartoons printed on the inside. In the beggining it takes a little effort to see the time, but once you figure out the position of Mickeys hands on the watchs hands youre good. Youll smile everytime you check on the time! Excellent time, excellent watch! On: 2007-03-26I purchased this watch for my husbands 46th birthday because he is an avid fan of Disney products and a collector. His favorite character is Mickey Mouse and he said the watch has been working great and hasnt missed a second yet!! The price was right and its a beauty. I highly recommend this watch for purchase of the young and old. Awesome watch for its price! On: 2007-02-13Quality manufacturing with a vintage style, I dig it! My bro just got me it for my birthday, and its even cooler than I had originally thunk. Itll take me a day or two to get used to how the palms are pointed, but the glass is thick and crystal clear and its an attraction with friends & co-workers who notice it. Too Fragile On: 2007-01-19Two days after I received this watch it fell onto the carpeted floor of our bedroom and the hands stopped. The jewelry store said it needed a whole new stem (a $75 repair). If you need a watch that stands up to wear and normal everyday usage, this is not the watch for you. Great Watch On: 2007-01-10My watch Is a great deal for the price, it looks antiquated to boot.
