On: 2008-01-31When searching for the perfect watch, this one kept catching my eye - aesthetically and practically the best watch Ive found. I was worried about buying the watch after reading many reports about the iPhone-like shattering of the crystal. Worry no more! Skagen has replaced the crystal with super-hardened, scratch-resistant mineral crystal. I have owned this watch for 3 weeks now, have not taken it off and have had no problems - thats saying a lot since I am very hard on the equipment. It is so wafer-thin you wont realize its there! The only drawback for me is the large diameter which is still taking some getting used to. Fine for office wear  On: 2007-08-19A decent, lightweight, thin, stylish watch - suitable for the office or out on the town. The band fits like a bracelet versus a "regular" watchband. Ive owned it for a few months now and havent had any problems. Great watch, great price On: 2007-08-16First saw this watch on a "special" on a trip from Hong Kong. When I got home, the Amazon price was considerably better. The watch is elegant, super thin, and a very attractive face. It came with a nice guarantee both from Skagen and Amazon. To date, I am a very satisfied owner. yes, it's true  On: 2007-06-20Just like the others who have reviewed this watch, the crystal on mine broke less than a week after I received it from Amazon. I took a short nap and woke up to realize that my watch face had shattered. I did not hit it against anything and there was no excessive pressure applied to the crystal. It is obviously a design flaw and I will ask for a replacement model. Nice to look at, just don't wear it. On: 2007-04-30A nice looking watch, but way too fragile. The glass covering the watch face broke the second day I wore it. fragile On: 2007-04-28This watch broke less than a week after I received it. It is a nice looking watch except that the face is covered by a thin layer of glass. I didnt even realize that I shattered it until I went to put it on the next day. If you need the least bit of durability with your watch do not purchase this one. Don't give up on Skagen just yet, BUT DON'T BUY THIS PARTICULAR WATCH! On: 2007-01-16Sure its stylish, but I purchased this watch in late November and the watch-face glass has already shattered twice since then, and here it is barely May! There I was, merely sitting at my computer, surfing the net, when the glass broke the first time, and just this past week the glass broke for the second time while I was simply driving my car! Obviously theres a disturbing pattern here, judging not only by my bad experiences but also by the bad experiences of others who have also posted, whose own issues echo mine. Maybe theres a design flaw or maybe the watch is poorly manufactured, but, whatever the reason, there appears to be a serious problem, with this variety of Skagen watch, at least. The first time the glass broke I sent it into the Skagen repair shop and it was returned to me with a new watch-face for the requisite repair fee of $8.95; but now that it is barely three months later and the watch-face has shattered again, I have sent an email to Skagens corporate offices to demand another, hopefully stronger variety of watch; or, if they dont believe another will serve me any better, I have asked for a full refund, not only of the purchase price but also of the first repair fee. Car manufacturers must issue recalls; it is my opinion that Skagen Designs should do the same because of the obvious problem with this products fragile watch-face. Stay-tuned. If Skagen does the right-thing and satisfies me, Ill gladly say so. If they dont correct this situation, Ill let you know that too. For now, DONT BUY THIS WATCH! ______________________________________ MAY 05, 2007 UPDATE: I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT TODAYS EMAIL TO SKAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS ANSWERED IMMEDIATELY, AND TO MY SATISFACTION. SKAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE ADMITTED A JUST-NOW DISCOVERED ISSUE WITH THE WATCH-FACE GLASS OF THIS MODEL, AND CONSEQUENTLY THEY ARE ONLY TOO HAPPY TO REPLACE MY PROBLEMATIC WATCH WITH ANOTHER VARIETY, FREE-OF-CHARGE. ONCE I GET THE REPLACEMENT WATCH, AND WEAR IT AWHILE, ILL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT PERFORMS. |
