The watch has a screw down bezel and internal slide rule moves, which is very smooth. The slide rule is a really nice touch, but I would be hard pressed to use it while flying. I am not sure why the black version is more expensive, but I was shopping for something with more of a unique look, and the black casing and band remove it from the sea of silver or leather banded watches. Overall, the watch is quite versatile and I am happy with the purchase. www.toefeek.com On: 2008-01-21This Citizen Eco-Drive Mens Nighthawk Black watch is classy, slick, and extremely useful. It has an outer ring connected to the left lower knob which turns the wheel to indicate the functions of a calculator, give you flying time until an empty tank, and to convert nautical miles to regular miles and kilometers. It also has glow in the dark stripes and date. It is well worth the price. Excellent watch, band is ok On: 2007-05-28I saw this watch at a store in Singapore and fell in love with it. Awesome watch. WR 20 bar (200m), although the manual actually says its ok for swimming but not for scuba diving. Strange, with 20 bar it should be fine for regular scuba diving up to 30m etc. Store price in Singapore was S$699 minus some special sales discount, I still got a better deal at Amazon. The watch is awesome (looking) , runs like a charme (on time), easy to understand and set (with dual time). The only issue I had is adjusting the band, that is a litle tricky. The band could have been a bit more flexible, for US$450 I would expect a better band. To adjust the length (if the regular adjustment is not enough), you need to pinch out the little steel poles with a proper tool or a thumbtack, but they are very tight. Pinch them in the direction of the arrow on the inner side of the watch. Otherwise, great watch, runs on solar power and newer needs a battery! The black band is a disaster, lost its color within 3 weeks, and the watch started to get some silver spots as well, returned it immediately. I ordered the silver one then, and the band still sucks. Its a shame for Citizen to sell such a nice watch at a high retail prize with this poor band. Seems like they do not care about their brand and reputation. Keeping the wath though as I love it, but be prepared even for the silver color band to get color stains and scratches in no time. The band is a very poor product. good price but was a used watch!  On: 2007-04-27bought from amazon for $215. was a steal for that price, when watch arrived it was a in a damaged box, and there was NO protective film on the watch except on the back with a piece of badly cut aftermarket film that didnt even cover the whole case back! manuals were bent on some edges. Unbeliveable from amazon that they would not even check thier returns to see if items were used. No protective covering on watch face or band. the inside of deployant showed signs of use already!... sides of watch face had slight scratches in the PVD which is really weird because PVD is not supposed to scratch off... the stainless steel shows easliy but are minor. i was very disappointed in the watch i recieved but by this is a great product. just do not buy this from amazon though they dont sell it anymore. eco drive does not offer a sweep motion like in automatic watches. lume is great on this but does not last long in the dark. solid link band feels and looks great. good clasp with citizen marking. signed crown. poor quality face back. the japanese version of this watch has a very nicly engraved case back and better looking lume tipped steel hour markers. all versions of this watch look great on the wrist though! This is an awesome (looking) watch. On: 2006-12-22Okay, I admit that I was looking for a watch that was more about looks than function. I wanted something that looked different from the normal "run of the mill" watches that you find everywhere. When searching Amazon for different choices, I was immediately drawn to the black Citizen Nighthawk. The black metal band and watch is a rarity among watches. The watch face was really appealing especially with the large numbers and red 24 hour numbers. I did read the Amazon product description and knew that it came with Eco-Drive. That was a real plus since I may never have to replace the rechargeable battery. Most watches are never water resistant after the battery has been replaced. I purchased the watch and Ive had it for about 6 months. First I have to say that the watch is beautiful. Ive had multiple comments about the watch from people who apparently agree. I also love the large numbers and hands. The watch is easy to read in both light and dark. The mineral crystal is so clear that its like it isnt even there. The Eco-Drive works flawlessly and changing the date is a breeze. If you dont like large heavy watches, then this watch is not for you. But if awesome looks and black stainless steel appeals to you, then you cant do better than this watch. Looks cool - but the quality? On: 2006-06-11I bought the model with the leather band. Overall it is a very nice watch - but a little heavy. The thing that freaks me out about the watch is that the pointer for seconds and the seconds on the dial dont match.
