Liked it. Only concern is if you dont wear continous, have set the time often. The Missing Link  On: 2007-08-03This Invicta Pro Divers Watch Arrived Earlier Then Expected. The Watch Bracelet Was Missing An Entire Link And Pin So I Couldnt Wear It When I First Got It. I Had To Make A Trip To Our Local Watch Repair Shop To Get It Fixed Which Cost Me Some Additional Money For The Repairs, But I Figured Getting The Watch Repaired Locally Was Far Easier Then Trying To Return It. The Watch Looks Good, Only Time Will Tell How Well It Holds Up. Nice watch! On: 2007-07-18The watch arrived packaged very well. The Invicta box is impressive as others mentioned. The watch was well protected in the case with plastic film covering the band an the crystal. The watch looks better than the pictures,the second hand has the Invicta emblem as a counter weight that the picture does not show. The watch is heavy in weight and looks very well made. The watch is no larger than my other diver. The band is large. Once moved to the last position in adjustment it fits fine. Just received so I have no experience with the accuracy of the piece. Yes I will buy another Invicta if the time keeping lives up to promises. I think I paid $130 for it. Sure, the swiss 25 jewel movement version is nicer, but I thought Id try the lower-end 21 jewel. It runs great, keeps good time, and is probably one of the best watches you can get for the money. High quality work, very close in look/feel/weight to a R*lex. Well have to see how the gold plating wears over time, but other than that, its a great watch. EDIT: Had to change my review, the movement has been giving me problems, first I couldnt quick-set the date, now the hands jump when trying to set the time, and the second hand stops on me even when its running. The case, the band, everything else is top notch for a $150 watch, but the cheap automatic movement really ruins it. In my opinion, get the one with the 25jewel swiss movement, and pay the extra $100. I have to send mine back for a warranty repair, and wish I would have bought the other one first. Decent for the money, not a Rolex but doesn't have to be.  On: 2006-10-30Being a watch collector, I couldnt resist this one. The price was certainly right. The watch comes in a bright Yellow box with a sort of cheesy holder that looks nice otherwise. There are several stories of how the bezel was changed from the notched type (old) to the wavy newer one, slightly different model, also of which the Invicta monogram on the lower part of the second hand, is replaced by a simple stem shape. There is very little difference in appearance and operation of both types. There is a card included, on which you can write in reference and other info, polishing cloth and rather oddly written instructions, whose authors primary language is probably not English. This watch doesnt pretend to be a Rolex, it doesnt feel or look exactly like one. Yet, its appearance is attractive. The Japanese Myota 21 jewel movement is seen through the clear case back. Construction and overall quality of this time piece is decent. The case and bracelet finish are also very nice. The bracelet is every bit as nice as any of my contemporary and more expensive Swiss watches. The links are held by a very small pin which must be properly inserted or it will easily work its way out. The links are tapered and care must be given whilst shortening to fit them together properly. Words are clearly printed and sharply etched. The Invicta name is stamped on the left side of the case, rather nice. Im told both the case and bracelet are easily scratched and use around machinery or hard use is not a good idea. How well does it run? Ok but could be more accurate. If it sits more than 24 hours with out winding, it is prone to stop but is easily started by gently shaking side to side or by unscrewing then pulling out the stem and winding it. This requires much care as the mechanism feels quite delicate. This is not a hacking watch (one which stops when the stem is pulled all the way out) so you cant sync it but that wont bother most people. Specifically, accuracy is acceptable but not as good as todays common, good quality quartz watches and what Id like to see in a good auto movement. It gains about 20 sec per 24 hours but I suspect that may stabilize after the movement wears in a bit. If not, I can adjust the speed calibration but please dont try this unless you are a trained jeweler/watchmaker and have a fresh case seal at the ready. You will very easily damage the movement and, at the very least, put it way out of calibration. I would not want to do much tweaking with this movement as it is rather a bit fragile as are many of this type. The bezel feels very fragile and I wouldnt suggest pulling on it and the wearer should be careful not to bump it against any hard surface edge as it could might easily pull loose. It is uni-directional turning and feels loose out of the box so roughhousing might also unseat it. The face looks very nice and the blue colour is quite radiant as is the bezel colour. The dial is easily read in the dark but illumination will fade a bit until it is recharged by a good light source. Overall, the quality is perfectly alright, looks and performance are equally so, and satisfaction should be no less. It has been mentioned that these watches need to be serviced periodically, as per the directions but light use whilst keeping the seal intact should provide years of satisfaction. As with any time piece, you should only have it repaired or serviced by a qualified watch maker/jeweler. It should be noted that this older style, with the notched bezel, may not be available much longer as the newer type are currently in production to replace it. Word has it that Rolex put pressure on Invicta to make the change but this cant be substantiated. A final note, I am told the Swiss movement version of this watch, while good, is not really that much better than the Japanese Myota version. That may or may not be true. If you are a collector, the Invicta 8xxx series are a nice addition as are many of their other time pieces. You wont regret purchase of this nice time piece. Enjoy. PRO DIVER WATCH 8928 On: 2006-06-07I RECEIVED MY WATCH YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. I PLACED THE ORDER ON MONDAY AND RECEIVED IT ON TUESDAY, NOT BAD! THE WATCH LOOKS AND FEELS JUST LIKE THE ROLEX I HAD AT ONE TIME, SO I AM PLEASED WITH THE PURCHASE. I WILL SEE IF THE WATCH HOLDS UP AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS. OVER-ALL OPINION, IT VERY GOOD! Best Dive Watch Value by: mikiehorn On: 2005-09-28 Invictas 8928 is a two tone model of the dive watch that started it all - the 8926! The watch utilizes 23k gold plate which wears rather well on the crown and bezel - less so on the bracelet for an overall look rivaling the Rolex Submariner. Lets take a tour of this $100 price range diving watch and note the value and style of the timepiece: Movement The Citizen Miyota 21 jewel movement rivals Swiss automatic movements for a fraction of the price. If it has any weakness - it is in the small power reserve - losing its mainspring energy with less than one day off the wrist. IF not worn everyday- it should be put on a programmable watch winder or manually wound. The second hand will not "hack" with this movement. A date (complication) window shows at the 3 oclock position. It must be manually adjusted every February and other 30 day months. Case The 43mm (with crown) 316L brushed stainless steel case wears comfortably on the wrist. The case lugs are modestly curved to accomodate wrists of all sizes. The new model (larger) gold plated screw down crown looks elegent as it contrasts the case. The blue dive bezel - unidirectional 120 clicks around - is scalloped like the Omega Seamaster and is a departure from older model 8928s which flaunted a Rolex like "coin edge" bezel. Under pressure from Rolex it was changed by Invicta two years ago. The blue enamal is vey scratch resistant - the numbers more copper color than gold. The Mineral Glass crystal is scratch resistant - but not nearly as much as a more desirable sapphire watch face (imprinted only by diamond) which could double the cost of the watch. Mineral glass is less prone to chipping or shattering than a sapphire crystal. The display watchback is also mineral glass - displaying the undecorated Miyota automatic movement. Mineral glass backs are less likely to cause skin irritation than a stainless steel backed case. A date magnifier (Cyclops) at the 3 oclock position carries on the Submariner theme. The gold watch hands contrast wonderfully with the Invicta blue dial. The LUME off the watch hands and number positions is modest - both in brightness and longevity as compared to more expensive dive watches. A "winged" Invicta symbol decorates the counter - balanced side of the gold second hand. An elegent "INVICTA" product name is embossed on the left side of the case. The watch is rated as a Professional Diver 200M (660 feet) water resistant. Bracelet The comfortable two tone stainess steel pinned link bracelet is worth the price of the watch. Solid end links, rounded flexible wrist links set off the gold plated center links - all made to look like the Rolex Oyster bracelet. The bracelets gold center links are the only 23k gold plating prone to scratching. The foldover adjustable double safety clasp uses pins as well. There is no wetsuit deployment clasp as found in more expensive watches. CONCLUSION Rated 5 Stars because of value and features, the Invicta 89XX series of Professional Dive Watches has kept the company in the forefront of automatic movement watch manufacturers. No one can touch Invicta in the $100 area Pro-diver price range. Fit, finish, design, value and quality cannot be beat. This IS the leader in its class. Those desiring a Swiss made watch with Sapphire crystal and heftier bracelet should first look at the Invicta 9938 for about threetimes the price. [This review replaces an earlier effort for the same watch.] Love the watch, not the performance On: 2005-06-04I have owned two of this style Invicta Watch, and although I love the style and appearance, both have had problems. I thought the first was just a lemon, and although the second is better, both have trouble when you take them off, sometimes just long enough to change clothes or take a shower. Both have stopped working even when I keep them on over night. One vendor recommended winding the stem before putting them on each day, but all other automatic watches have had enough charge to keep on ticking. Perhaps I got spoiled by my first Seiko, which performed flawlessly for over 25 years. |
