Excellent watch     On: 2008-01-02

I bought this watch for surfing and its excellent. Quality and function are what I hoped for and the weight is not noticeable when Im wearing it in the water. The solar recharging feature is very nice as well.
Heavy for a watch, but very reliable     On: 2007-12-11

Yes, this watch is pretty heavy (for a watch). However, many mens watches are heavy. Fossil watches, in my experience, are another brand that makes heavy watches. If you have worn and dont mind other bulky mens watches, you probably wont notice the bulk or weight of this watch. I wear this watch constantly, in the shower, diving, even most nights when i sleep.

The solar powered feature? Works wonderfully. Ive worn it for months and the only time i ever consciously charged it was the first day i bought it. I laid it on the window sill for a few hours at work and since then its been running fine. Living in new york city, i dont spend much time outdoors besides going from my apartment to the subway and back yet have never had a problem of running low on charge.

Just last week i spent a week doing dives to 40 ft and not problems. Airplance, showers, baths, the occasional drop, no problems either. My only concern is that when it drops on uncarpeted floors, it can be loud. If you have neighbors living below you, they might notice.

Its a great watch.

Review of Pulsars Solar Powered PUA 111     On: 2007-10-22

Shipping went well. Good looking, heavy eco-friendly - great! Charging went fine and accuracy is great too. However: Date changing doesnt work. Ive tried several times to ajust according to the manual and thereafter the date doesnt change for two days. The glass got scratched after two weeks of normal use - no hard work involved. Thats a new record for me - I expected a lot more on this account.

Excellent for the money!     On: 2007-02-09

I am a marine biologist and need a dependable and affordable dive watch for my job. I own a Citizen Eco-drive and Seiko dive watch-this watch seems every bit as good. It has passed every test an overseas research expedition can provide. Diving, snorkling, boat rides, deploying equipment, spearfishing, rain, treking, etc. It has spent 3 weeks in Fiji, and two weeks in Baja without a hitch. It is heavy, but that lends to a feeling that you can count on this watch. The style is excellent, the blue face is a plus. My only complaint would be the crown sticks out to far if you wear it on your left hand, but that is a small problem when you compare the quality for the price!!!! You cant go wrong. Give it the full solar charge like the instructions read and you should have NO problems.
Very Pleased     On: 2007-01-05

Pulsar is made by Seiko. Both quality lines. Gave the watch a FULL solar charge as explained in the owners manual. Even though it may sit in a dark drawer for weeks (I have a collection of timepieces I enjoy), its been keepng great time as one expects from a quartz movement. The band and watch have the weight and feel of a high quality divers timepiece. If you want a lightweight watch, this is not for you. I like the beautiful dial too.
Pulsar Dive Watch     On: 2006-10-18

I recieved this watch as a birthday gift and it is awesome! Its heavy, solidly built, tough, and can take a beating. The first day I wore it I had to change two flat tires on a hunting trip in a rain storm. This watch was subjected to water, mud, grease, and a plethora of cuss words and it survived the trip without a scratch. I actually put a scratch in my pickup truck with the watch while changing out the tires. I had a Seiko for 8 years and it finally rusted out from the inside due to not being water proof. I recommend this watch to anyone who is looking for a watch that looks great, is tough, and never needs batteries.
Great surfer watch     On: 2006-09-24

I needed a robust watch for surfing. I bought this one 3 weeks ago because its the only one I could find with a bracelet extension, which means I dont have to add or remove links depending on whether I am wearing a wetsuit. Overall it feels great and solar charging is no joke. Plus its heavy so you get to work out all the time. My left arm is now twice as big as my right one.
A bargain dive watch for under $100.00     On: 2006-08-10

As a collector, I have collected just under a dozen watches over the past 5 years. All of them are unique in some way or another. The Pulsar Solar Powered Dive Watch is one of the most probably the most unique. The build quality is excellent, accuracy is excellent. (lost 2 seconds in 30 days) The weight of the watch is heavy for its size but it dosent feel heavy on the wrist.
The band will fit a 9" wrist, so if you have a smaller wrist you might need to have some links removed. The looks and feel of this watch are what you might expect from a time piece costing hundreds of dollars more. This watch is a real bargain based on the price paid. Its most important the you follow the instructions about initially charging the watch battery. I left my watch out on the sun porch for a few hours as instructed and have had no problems.
AWESOME WATCH     On: 2006-05-31

Have owned this watch for a couple of weeks now, and I LOVE it.
It is HEAVY, but thats one of the things I like about it. Cant beat it for under 100.00 bucks !!!
Solid--good looking--functional     On: 2006-04-04

This is a great watch. Yes, it is heavy, but that is a good thing. The band can be adjusted to a good comfort level and it wears a lot lighter than it is. The band also has an extender for wearing over a wetsuit--a great feature for colder water divers.

If you charge the solar cell by keeping it under a light overnight, it wont fail on you (as it did for one of the other reviewers). The movement of the bezel is smooth and it will stay in place once you have it turned to where you want it.

This is a great watch. For this price, you wont find better.
HEAVY, Tough, Smooth, Accurate, and did I say HEAVY!     On: 2006-04-04

I dont usually write a review on products (think this is my first one), but I figured Id take a little time to write one on this fine watch.

Ive owned a few other watches. A Rolex Explorer II, Invicta Pro Diver, Atomic G-Shock. This is probably my favorite out of all of them.

First, if you dont like HEAVY watches then dont buy this one. Its HEAVY. Probably not fair (after reading this) if you come back here and give it 1 star because you think its too heavy. :)

Second. It runs off a battery that has to be initially charged. You have to put it under a light source and leave it for some time. A lot like charing up a cordless phone for the 1st time.

Mine keeps very accurate time. Much like any quartz type watch and much better than any of my "automatics", but not as good as the G-Shock Atomic. :)

Things I like about this watch. "Brushed" stainless. Basically its pre-scratched. Heavy. I like a watch with some substance. "Rounded" and doesnt irritate my skin. The Invicta and Rolex had "sharper" edges and would bother me after a while. Solar powered and dont have to worry about changing a battery.

Nice big dial. Extra clasp links to go over a scuba suit. (Dont think Ill ever use). Glows in the dark nicely. Can stop the sweep hand for precise setting of time (I couldnt do this on my Invicta). Easy to change the date. Locking clasp.

Im very happy with this purchase and would buy another should I lose this one. After I got it I wished Id bought 2.

Great looking, stylish watch for the price.     On: 2006-03-15

The big plus is no battery changes! Which Ive had to do every couple years for my other watched. Its well crafted and designed. Looks sharp. Im not a diver so I cant comment on whether this thing performs at 200 meters depth. Yes, Im a poser.
Ive had this watch for 4 weeks now with no problems. Initially, I didnt leave it out in direct light so I was fiddling with it to correct the time. Lesson learned, I exposed it in direct sunlight for a couple of days and its been fine ever since. just a bit of exposure to sun/artificial light every so often is sufficient enough to keep it ticking. If youre a cave dweller/hermit this may not be the watch for you.
minuses - like what the other reviewers said, this thing is HEAVY! maybe like wearing a roll of quarters on your wrist.
another issue is that the dial is big. I have a small wrist so the dial pretty much takes up my whole wrist.
I wasnt able to remove the links on my own, but I did go to a retail store, mentioned it was a gift, and they did it for me for free!
Great looking watch, but heavy. Id recommend it if youre looking for a nice quality watch at a reasonable price.

Way too big heavy     On: 2006-03-14

Ive purchased this watch for my sons high school graduation. I had to return it because its face was way too big and thick for my sons wrist and weight of it is too heavy for him to like it and wear it for his every day usage. It is very beautiful to look at though.
Pulsar Men's Solar Powered Tech Gear Dive Watch     On: 2006-03-14

Watch was very heavy and large. The solar battery didnt work well. The watch stopped working while at dinner. The lighting was low in the restaurant. I returned the watch for another style.
watch review     On: 2006-03-11

The watch is very nice, works well and is solar powered. The only issue is its a little heavy.
Pulsar's own MONSTER     On: 2006-03-10

For those of you in the market for a cheap/high quality dive watch, this is the best bang for the buck. Great build quality, feels solid and heavy, and the blue dial is really classy. The pictures just dont do it justice. The only minor complaint I have is that the bracelet isnt quite up to par with the body of the watch. The links feel a bit too light, perhaps to compensate for the overall heft of the watch.

This watch has all the key traits of a divers watch: screw back and crown, 200m water resistance, good visibility and a mechanism that does not require a battery change. More expensive watches may have sapphire cristals which are more resistant to scratches than mineral cristals, and automatic movement which might be more sophisticated than solar power, but at the same time is less accurate. If your budget allows you, perhaps you should also look at the Seiko Monster Automatic Watch (#SKX779K1) which is the benchmark for the inexpensive divers watches. In any case, this Pulsar holds its own in this highly competitive marke. You might say this is Pulsars own monster.
Big and heavy but nice     On: 2006-02-26

This is one monster of a watch. It took a while before I learned to appreciate it. Now it has become my favorite watch -over my Omegas and Seiko Kinetics. But it may not be for you. It is massive and very heavy. It takes getting use to.
