![]() Luminox 3009 (Men's Watch) : Swiss Quartz Movement By: Luminox Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 2 More Information Does not stand up to civilian use I am very disappointed with this watch! I received one as a gift almost three years ago. I took about two years to decide it was worth asking for. The first year, the watch was great. The dial is easy to read, it is very waterproof, and those luminous markings are bright. But during this past year, the numbers on the outer dial wore off, and one of the watch pin holes got scuffed (I guess from catching my arm on my backpack or a sleeve once too often) so the watch pops off all the time. I sent it back to Luminox (Parsec) and they said it would cost $136 to fix. So much for Luminox. best watch I probably own about 12 watches, and this one is my favorite. Here are the reasons: - Swiss made - Very accurate - Very lightweight - Very durable - Crystal is tough and doesnt scratch easily - VERY easy to see at night and in low light - The band has enough holes close together to fit anyones wrist - It just looks really good and the design is cool - It is a "military watch", designed to military specs. (the Seals have the reputation of testing things til they break, so you know if they ordered it, it is tough). There are some very minor downsides to these watches: - Battery life is only 4 years, and I heard it can be hard to get a replacment. The back of the watch has tiny phillips screws, so your local jeweler might not have the tools and might have to "send it in", and I heard that service is not that great at Luminox. (note that some of the heavier Luminox Seal watches have the traditional "unscrew it" back, which is far easier to install a battery in, I think). - the time setting pin is not screw-down. This actually doesnt bother me at all, but some "purists" like the screw-down ones. The watch is good to 200 meters underwater, so that is not an issue. |
