Well made, classic design reproduction.
Case a little too large for more thinner wrist. On: 2007-07-21
I agree with a previous reviewer. This is a very nice watch, but its not a reissue in any sense. I own a couple vintage WWII watches and this model is easily a third larger. I suspect most guys would find the real watch too small. Still it looks great and does evoke that classic black military style. The band is really comfortable - backed with leather - and the swiss quartz movement keeps perfect time. I bought this for about 76 bucks over the Fathers Day weekend sale and feel I got a bargain. I wear it frequently. I think, however, if you want to wear a more traditional model, theres a wind-up Benrus reissue that seems closer to the original, or you can buy a vintage model. The hack watches are more sought after and so cost more than the sub-second models...Elgin, Hamilton, Bulova...all the American watch makers made these watches for all branches of the service during the war, so there are still some out there. With a reissue canvas band these watches still look great..... by: mohawk36 On: 2007-06-09
Its never going to be mistaken for the original watches Bulova made for the US military in WW2 (and beyond). And it really hasnt been claimed as such as far as I can tell. In some ways thats good as its much bigger size is more practical for modern every day wear and the quartz movment keeps the cost down while providing excellent accuracy. The strap is stout and better made than I expected. But its too bad they didnt research the original dials more as long as they were bothering putting together a watch like this. Unfortunately this seems to be the case with most tribute watches.
The bottom line is for the money, especially now (I paid a little over $100.00 for mine), its a cool piece wear as a tip of the hat to those great old watches or just for casual wear when you need an easy to read and unique watch. by: tobyg50 On: 2007-04-02
This watch has a large face and is very well-built. The eyelets on the band are steel. The watch is engraved and numbered. A great wristwatch. Would make a wonderful gift for any World War II veteran or historian.
