 Movado Men's Luno Watch #0605556 By: Movado Average Rating: 5.0 Total Reviews: 16 More Information Fine Watch, Great Crystal, Soft-ish band  On: 2008-05-13First of all, I actually got the silver dial version (which is a sliver cheaper), but Amazon isnt allowing me to review that one for some reason. Other than the color of the dial, its the exact same watch as this one shown. Its a beautiful design. Simple, elegant, and hot. Reliability is also a big plus with Movado. I have a wind-up Movado pocketwach from 1905, and it keeps better time than a Seiko I had a few years ago. Generally, if you take care of your Movado, it will last for a very, very long time. The Luno looks to be no exception to this rule. Movado this the right thing with the choice of crystal. The Lunos sapphire crystal is a must have for something this pricey. Expect this crystal to be in great shape 50 years from now when its time for you to pass this down to your son. The band is the bomb . . . almost. Obviously, the unique draw to the Luno series is the half-moon design. At least thats why I bought it vs. the other models. The butterfly clasp design conceals the latch mechanism for that continuous look, though their fedora "M" logo is acid etched on the last link. So why is the band only almost the bomb? Its heavy, and its a bit too easy to scratch. I guess thats what you get with stainless steel though. Im wondering if a titanium band would have done a better job dropping the weight and improving on the hardness. All of this for under $1000. I love that Movado is on the low-end of the high-end watches. For $460 (what I paid), this watch is more stylish and gets more compliments than Rolex, Omega, Longines, you name it. It keeps time just as accurately, and it draws just the appropriate amount of attention in the board room. I havent been able to find any compelling deals on watches between the $500-$1000 mark, keeping in mind that this watch is ~$450. If you have a budget to stay under $1000 for a watch, then buy two of these. Movado  On: 2008-04-29Purchased both the mens and womens Luno. Had to return the mens due to a faulty clasp after bringing it to a jeweler to have the band shortened. Strange that Movado would let a watch leave the factory with such an obvious defect. Brilliant!  On: 2008-04-18I bought this watch nearly two months ago after waiting almost 4 months debating on whether or not to buy it. Should have purchased right away! Fits great on my wrist, has a nice weight to the watch-not too heavy, not to light. I cant tell you how many compliments Ive received on this! Thankfully the dial is scratch resistant as I have accidentally hit it on a metal rod without any damage. Highly recommend if youre in the market for a 400+ dollar watch! Great value. I took it to a Movado store in Chicago to validate the authenticity so I know its real. Great looking watch! On: 2008-03-25I bought this watch for my boyfriends birthday and he loved it. It is a very classic watch and can be worn casual or dressy. A great deal! Elegance beyond belief, here are the measurements... On: 2008-03-24This watch is much more beautiful in person than on the picture. It is elegant, but not thin/petite, like most Movado watches, so it is perfect for a guy with a bigger wrist, but not a huge wrist. I bought it for my husband who is 62", 200 lbs, and it is just perfect. Let me give you the real measurements of the watch, as I could not really find accurate measurements anywhere: case diameter 38 mm, without the knob, with knob 42.5 mm band width 21 mm near the face(widest part) 27 mm case thichkness 7 mm band thickness 3 mm Hope it helps. Cant tell you how it runs, because I just got it, in a few years, I will be able to assess that aspect of the watch. On: 2008-01-18Movado Mens Luno Watch #0605556 I must admit, at first I was a little dubious about getting such a timepiece online, especially after reading such gimmicky reviews that stated much, but really said little. The pros of doing this was of course price and ease of purchase, but the downside was having to have it fitted. Lucky for me it was a gift. My buddy who is a huge watch buff, but a little strapped to buy a movado said it was perfect, and he was right. I honestly gave it two him two days before the exchange of Christmas gifts because I was worried about keeping it myself and getting him a nice card. The watch was THAT nice. I simply cannot imagine someone being regretful about such a purchase, and Amazon, as they themselves usually are, were timely and organized. Good stuff! Great Watch On: 2008-01-11This was my husbands christmas present and he loved it, its a very ellegant watch, with a simple detail on the stainless steel band that makes it look so nice. At first I was hesitant to make this expensive purchase online but, I received this watch in perfect condition. Not only did I receive it the next day (with great offer) but, I was very happy to see that it looks a lot more elegant than the picture online. Its a beautiful mens watch and my boyfriend loved it. I highly recommend the watch and Amazon has the best price online. Recent Purchase On: 2007-12-17I purchased this item about 6 months ago and am very pleased. At the time I began to search for a watch I knew I wanted something attractive without going so far over the top that it could only be worn in a rap video. I narrowed it down to the smaller oyster rolex models or this model from movado and ultimately made my decision due to the museum dial which is very subtle and dignified. If you think you need to tell what time it is in three different countries at once or officiate an olympic race this model and most other movados may not be the best option for you although if you specifically want a basic timepiece without a lot of distracting extras this is the one you want. One aspect that comes through in person is the continual nature of the clasp which isnt apparent in the photos. The watch is also very comfortable and not excessively heavy. I had to have one repair so far but am still giving the item a five-star rating since even though I went through Amazon, the local Movado store sent it in and covered it under the warranty without making me go through any beaurocracy. Must get watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On: 2007-11-26I think the Movado Luna Mens watch is the best deal here in Amazon. I searched all over for this watch and you cant beat the price. Its worth it. I wanted to get something special for my boyfriend this Christmas and I do have to say it was breath taking from the moment you open the box it looks beautiful. All my co-workers were in shock of how beautiful the watch is. Its better in person. If you are thinking about getting it for yourself or as a gift, go for it. Youll be truely happy with it!!!!!! Movado Luno Watch On: 2007-10-21Just got my Movado Luno. Its easy to read despite lack of numbers. Feels nice and look great. The instructions included are very sparse and mostly irrelevant. Different movado watch types are listed and how to wind them up. I didnt really see the Luno described but I just set the time and the watch started up without any fanfare. Not much else to say. Looks very classy; hopefully the expensive swiss parts inside will keep going for a long time. Amazons price is the best I found. Great Watch On: 2007-09-24From the moment you open the box, the beauty of the watch jumps out at you. Its a definite headturner and feels sturdy with a good weight to it. Keeping the simple Movado look with a touch of jazz On: 2006-12-28I bought this watch for my boyfriend for Christmas and he absolutely loved it! I got it at Jomashop for around $420 with free shipping. Before I purchased it, I went to the Movado site and a department store to see if it was really as nice as it looked. I was very impressed on how stylish it was. My boyfriend said he would have picked out the same one. We both loved how it has the half circles on the band. Very impressive; highly recommend. A work of art! On: 2006-02-06I was able to purchase this watch from JomaShop.com for the 50% discount mentioned in the review above. Since then, the Amazon price has increased by about $50 but the watch is still well worth it (considering it retails at almost $800). The pictures listed here simply do not do it justice - go to a Movado company store or authorized retailer - and try it on. I almost bought mine on the spot at double the price! This is a very classy dress watch at a very reasonable price. The stainless steel band is accented by semi-circles to complement the distinct Movado motif. The butterfly clasp completely hides the beginning/end of the bracelet. This clean look is finished with a scratchproof sapphire face and rhodium dot to signify the 12-o-clock mark. I get complimented on this watch all the time, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for one. As with all Movados, if you have trouble reading an analog dial, much less a numberless face, this watch is not for you. |
