More Information

An excellent BASIC watch, if that's all you need.     On: 2006-12-17

My old Fossil watch died after many years of faithful service. I am very particular about what I want my watch to display, and this Fossil seemed like a perfect match. I just received it today, and unfortunately it is not going to work for me. Heres why:

The watch has virtually NO features. It will display the time, the date, and a customizable scrolling message. You also have the ability to toggle between several different screen configurations that have different placement for the hour, minute, second, month, and day. It is also water resistant to 50 meters.

Other than that, it has no features. Im not asking for extra goodies like atomic/solar power either... how about just a stopwatch? A coundown timer? Some type of light? Even the ability to switch to 24-hour mode, which I prefer. Cant do any of that.

Amazon doesnt really list any info about this watch, and you wont find any mention of it on the Fossil website. I initially found what I thought were the instructions (Fossil only shows a diagram, rather than the model name or number) that showed it to have some of those basic features I mentioned. I was wrong though, that must be a different model. You notice this watch has 4 buttons? 3 of them seem to be virtually worthless.

On the other hand, this IS an extremely good looking watch. I was impressed by the quality of the stainless steel, and the clasp is one of the best I have ever seen. Also note that this is a very large watch: you dont get that impression by looking at the pictures, but it is big: Casio G-shock big! Im 63" 250 pounds, and this watch still looks large on my wrist.

If this watch had just a few more very basic features, I would have no problem reccommending it. As it stands, it is only good for someone who is positive that they can live without those.
