![]() Tissot PRS516 By: Tissot Average Rating: 5.0 Total Reviews: 5 More Information Beautiful piece of art I think I have left a review before but I got another email from amazon asking for (another?) review! lol more than glad to do so! This watch is a beautifully-crafted. Always wanted an automatic watch (had one but the strap broke!) Regardless, this is a nice watch. The skeletal movement is clearly visible at the back, the leather strap is nice and I really like the boldness if it. God bless Tissot! Classic Retrograde If youre looking for a sporty watch with character, you need not look any further. With is elegant looks and stylish design, the Tissot Mens PRS516 is a retrograde look of a classic Tissot. The pierced hole strap was very popular on Tissot watches released in the mid-1960s to early-1970s. The pierced strap is representative of the holes in the steering wheel of many of the finest sports automobiles of the time. Add it to your collection. Great value for a real Swiss-made watch Ive had this watch for about a month now. It is very nicely made. The fit & finish compares favorably to watches costing several times the price. The band is comfortable to wear, and the holes in the band look better in person than they do in the pictures. This watch goes with just about anything. The lume (glow-in-the-dark feature) on this watch is terrific, and the see-through back is fun. Mine keeps very accurate time, plus or minus a few seconds a day. All in all, its an excellent value. The Perfect Everyday Watch This is my second Tissot, and the first automatic; Its a wonderful watch. The photos dont do it justice; the dial arrangement is actually 3 dimensional, with the second and minute hands passing behind the glowing markers; the edge of the dial is beveled up toward the glass. The fit and finish are just superb; it looks like a watch worth several times its cost. The packaging is also terrific, if youre looking at this as a gift. It even comes with a fairly lengthy paperback history of the Tissot company, which has taught me a lot. This particular style is very versatile; the black, silver and brown together make it wearable with almost anything, and its casual enough for jeans and dressy enough for a suit. Cool Automatic Driver's Watch I decided it might be nice to have a watch that needs no batteries, but I didnt want to spend a fortune for the privilege. Enter the Tissot PRS 516 automatic. Over the years, I have discovered that the absolute most readable watch faces have white hands and black dials. Racing cars and fighter planes use instruments with those same qualities for good reason. The PRS 516 is therefore very easy to read in any light condition. The photo here doesnt show you, but the luminous hour markers are actually affixed to the inside of the sapphire crystal, where they show up even more brightly. You also cant see the nifty display window on the back of the watch that reveals the winding rotor and other moving mechanical parts. Picking up on the racing motif suggested by the vent holes in the leather strap, three stainless steel spokes resembling a sports car steering wheel hold the winding rotor pivot. As someone who has owned nothing but quartz watches for many years now, I was surprised to discover a few things about this mechanical movement. First, the second hand truly "sweeps" smoothly, like an electric watch movement, rather than advance with the discrete increments of a traditional windup. Cool! Second, the watch makes no ticking sound; it seems to be absolutely silent. Third, the accuracy is excellent -- out of the box, it seems to gain just five seconds a day. Thats much better performance than I have previously experienced with a mechanical movement. The watch is big, but not massive like some of the Invictas. There is a double-deployment clasp, another feature I am not accustomed to with a leather strap. Finally the watch comes with some very impressive packaging, including a full book -- not a booklet -- on the history of Tissot. And dont overlook the two side panels inside the case: one holds the instructions and warranty card; the other contains a velvet pouch for the watch. If youre looking for a rugged, handsome, and practical automatic watch at a very reasonable price, look no farther. The Tissot PRS 516 is for you!
