![]() Pulsar Men's Tech Gear Terrain Watch #PF3353 By: Pulsar Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 7 More Information The most useful watch I have ever owned. I bought the Pulsar PF3353 little over a year and a half ago while on vacation in Branson, Missouri. I just liked the looks of it, and it was on sale. What a bargain it turned out to be! It took a while to learn the various features, and I wont pretend that I use them all. First it is accurate and functional, and it has the advantage of being easy to read and having the amazing flip up magnifying glass. I am past 50 years old, and I cant read fine print the way I used to. However, with my Pulsar PF3353 on my wrist, I am able to flip the top and easily read maps or documents or examine gem stones or the markings on the back of antique silver. It is my daily friend. There is nothing "fake" about this watch. It is tough as nails and does well when I have gone snorkeling. I have gotten complements on its appearance many times, even in places like Rome, Tierra del Fuego, and cruises of the Carribean. The check out gal at Walmart stared at it and asked, "Where did you get that watch? I really like it. It looks like a mans watch." Remember, you need to read the directions. After a little time invested in reading, I use the telemeter to determine the distance from lightning strikes and approximate compass direction regularly. It is not a watch for the illiterate. If you cant read, buy something else. A birthday gift My husband absolutely loved the watch. He thought it looked great. We did have to read the book to understand all. We have not had it long enough to know about wear and tear will update in 6 months. Pulsar Men's Tech Gear Terrain Watch #PF3353 Super cool watch! You will pay alot more for a watch of lessor quality! If you cant read directions..dont buy this watch. I get compliments every time I wear it! All features come in handy. While trying to set the time I found out that the hr and min hands wouldnt match up so you couldnt even set it to 12. the flip up magnifier was cool but the compass bezel is junk and isnt a compass at all its just a bezel that moves but u must move it, you might as well just use the watch hands to find out your postion. The good, it looks nice and thats it. Worst watch ever The watch looks good on the first view, but thats all. The bezel is an immovable fake, not a scuba-bezel as imitating. Its just a show-off watch, useless for outdoor. The alarm is difficult to set and the wristband requires special equipment to be adjusted. Ive never worn it and scraped it, although it was a present. Didnt sell in on eBay because of bad conscience and afraid of getting bad rating because of selling crap ... Better buy a Timex if you are interested in good value for rather little money. This Is One BIG Watch! by: Anonymous On: 2007-02-02 Boy, howdy! This is some kinda watch. Im still reeling over this one. Im not sure why I bought this watch, except: (1) it was a good deal, (2) I love watches, and (3) this one has features one ordinarily doesnt see on a watch. Did I mention that its big. I like it! Its easy to read, even without my glasses, and its distinctive. It has a telemeter scale under the outer bezel, which allows the user to determine how far distant a thunderstorm is, for instance, by starting the stop watch when lightning is observed and stopping it when the thunder is heard. This scale is calibrated for a temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit, as sound travels at different speeds, depending on conditions. I can see how this would be of benefit to outdoorsmen. There is a magnifying lens over the watch crystal, which could come in handy for a variety fishing-related tasks, threading a needle, or map reading. There is a rotating navigational scale inside the telemeter scale that can be used to determine direction by pointing the hour hand at the sun and then positioning the scale so that South lines up at the halfway point between the hour hand and 12 oclock, a function that any watch can perform with or without the movable scale. I have not yet figured out what the case eyelet is for, except, as one site notes, "for secure fastening." To what, I know not, but if someone knows, please leave a comment here. Im a little hard of hearing, so I really dont depend on watch alarms and have not yet determined whether this one works or not. Setting it is not the easiest of tasks and Seiko really needs to take a cue from Timex on analog watch alarms. But, again, it doesnt matter to me how easy they are to set, I cant hear watch alarms anyway, except under the most ideal of conditions, which dont often exist in the real world. There is no sub-dial for measuring fractions of seconds with the chronograph. Instead, the second hand moves five times per second. Unless, one has extraordinary eyesight (or, perhaps, an extra magnifying glass), this feature is pretty much lost. The domed magnifying lens is so reflective that reflections often obscure the watch face and sometimes, I find that it helps me to see the details of the watch face better if I lift the lens out of the way. Nevertheless, all in all, this is a big, good-looking and very substantial timepiece with some very interesting, if only marginally useful features. I like watches and I wear a different one every day just for grins and this one will fit nicely into my collection. I cant wait to find out what everyone has to say about this one. For better or worse, its bound to garner a lot of attention. I didnt give it five stars because I have watches the functions of which are more user friendly and which are a little less pretentious, if thats the right word, than this one. |
