Trias 43mm Unitas 30317     On: 2006-06-18

Remarkable value for money, its big and heavy and feels solid. However, as pointed out below, the strap is stiff and hard, and the securing screws are not flush with the case, they stick out. Also the display back is disappointingly small. Hands are not to my liking either but have located an alternative set. Overall though this is a great poor mans Chronoswiss Timemaster/Paneri type that you will not feel silly wearing.
Trias WWII Manual Wind     On: 2005-09-27

This classic retro quickly takes you back to a bygone era, a time when auto-winders and quartz movements would be considered revolutionary. The 43MM coin edge case is not for the feint of heart. It is a big watch, so be sure that is what you want before ordering. The case edge and lug edges are brush finish. The coin edge, lug tops and bottoms, and crown are high-polish. The crown is large and nicely knurled to support the required manual winding. The screw-in back is also coin edged and high-polish. The strap retainer pins have screw ends. Keep a watch on those screws. If you see one backing out, remove it, apply "Loc-Tite" and re-assemble. The black strap is of high quality with very even contrast stitching and conventional buckle. It is somewhat stiff and will require "break-in". The dial is a rich black with luminous diamond markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9, luminous stick markers at the remaining hour positions, and luminous numerals. The hour and minute hands have a silver outline with luminous center. The "railroad" style minute register is very even and correctly sized for this dial (just right). The seconds dial at the 9:00 Oclock position is smaller than I would like. The second hand is also small and not the same style as the hour and minute hand (it should be). The back display window is not of full diameter but does reveal all the signature elements of the renowned Unitas 6497 movement. The jeweled balance wheel, the drive trains "four jewel crescent" and the main drive gears. The drive gears are square cut just as God intended. The plates are decorated with very small machine turnings. The watch comes in a polished metal "harmonica case" very nice for gift giving. Everything about this watch says quality.
