Comfortable, but pricey!     On: 2008-06-08

Note: I understand from a friend that Polar USA will take back old/warn-out sensors and send you a new one for $25 or so. You might want to check into that if your looking for a replacement that is out of "Juice".

This replacement sensor is comfortable, but they sure are pricey! I personally never found the old plastic sensors un-comfortable, and if my girlfriends dog hadnt eaten my old one out of spite, I wouldnt have bought a new one! -Recommended
Better than the original     On: 2008-05-24

I purchased this transmitter when a similar one I had stopped working correctly due to corrosion. This one is designed much better than the one that comes with the F11 watch. Its a pretty big investment, but I have found it to be invaluable!
Excellent Product from Polar     On: 2008-05-14

This is my favorite heart rate moniotor that Polar has made. Finally, no struggling to take it off....it is easy to slip on and off with the new hook design. I depend on it for accurate monitoring and it delivers. A great product.
Excellent     On: 2008-05-08

I bought this to replace my previous wearlink transmitter that my dog chewed up. I have to say that I am extremely pleased with this one. It is updated from the original one I received with my unit and it is more sensitive and fits more comfortable than the original wearlink. This is by far the most comfortable heartrate monitor transmitter available.
In the beginning     On: 2008-04-30

I was pleased with my transmitter. I actually upgraded from the old style to this type because of the ability to change the battery. While I have been very pleased with the performance of this transmitter while the battery functioned, I cannot say the same when the battery began to wear out. I purchased new batteries and brought them home to attempt to change them. Unfortunately, I was not able to take off the cover. In the process of attempting to get the arrow on the cover to move from close to open a number of times, the inset has now been damaged and cannot be opened. After contacting Polar, my options were to send it in for repair, at least a three week process (too long in my opinion) or have them send me a new cover and have me go to a watch repair place and hope they can get it off. Either way, I am out almost as much money as I would have been just to buy a new transmitter, which I wish I had done.

As long as you are comfortable with replacing this transmitter at a cost of $54.95 every 18 to 24 months, this is a good deal. But if you plan on keeping it for the long run, you might want to find another transmitter to purchase.
Worth the price     On: 2008-04-15

Have had no problems with my new transmitter. Bought this one as a replacement and have been pleased with it.
Great product!     On: 2008-03-20

Different than the "old" Polar transmitters, the WearLink is very light and esay to transport. You dont have to worry about bending or flattening it like in the past. Just fold it, toss it in your backpack and go.
It works just as well as the older versions.
Good product, working as should.     On: 2008-02-28

I lost the original transmitter that cames with the Polar and I saw that my polar works with the Polar Wearlink Coded model, so I bought this model and it is working fine. I really like this wearlink, and the differential to buy this specific model was the option to change battery, because the regular one does not offer this option, once the battery stop to work, you need to buy a new one.
Summary, it is good and works fine, in my case I really like it.
polar transmitter     On: 2008-02-13

The product works as advertised. The only problem I have with this is that the buckle is hard to undo when you are done with your workout. The treadmill recognizes the polar as I step on to it. Allows a hands free cardio or fat burn workout.
Excellent works great with Cybex Machines!     On: 2007-12-28

Comfortable to wear, works instantly no problem so far. Strap is easy to adjust to different sizes.
What a frustrating little piece of junk this thing has turned out to be     On: 2007-11-15

Ive loved my Polar S410 and when I first saw the WearLink I thought I had to have one. Its comfortable, but it eats batteries and stops working for no apparent reason. Ive purchased replacement straps, but its hard to get apart and hard to get back together. I also bought yet another WearLink transmitter thinking I must have just gotten a bad one the first time. The 2nd one is no different than the first. Ive had 2 of the old style and used them while I trained and ran 5 marathons. Ive had 2 of these WearLinks and together they didnt last a year. Im going back to the old style. They worked.
WORKS WELL     On: 2007-11-08

COMFORTABLE TO WEAR. WORKS WELL SOME NUMBERS MAY BE HARD TO READ FOR THOSE NEEDING READING GLASSES. EVERY NOW AND THEN WATCH LOOSES CONTACT ON CYCLE MACHINES BUT SEEMS TO BE OK ON TREADMILLS AND GENERAL JOGGING. WORKING WITH WEIGHTS HAS NO ADVERSE EFFECTS.
Polar Wearlink     On: 2007-09-27

I bought a new heart rate monitor and this transmitter came with it. I have had to replace the battery after about 9 months which was no big deal. Since than I have had so many problems with the transmitter stopping in the middle of a run. I have replaced the battery so many times that the cover now is stripped which means I have to replace the entire sensor since Polar does not just sell a cover. I would probably not buy another Polar. I am disappointed in their lack of reasonable support of the product. I thought having a replacement battery was a positive however the design flaws make the device unstable after the cover and battery is removed.
Dissatisfied with product and Polar customer service     On: 2007-09-18

I am a doctor and for quite a few years was a Polar distributor in my practice because I believed that Polar was a good company with good heart monitors. I purchased the Wearlink transmitter belt a few years ago. It only worked for a few weeks before it stopped functioning. I used the belt that came with the Polar heart monitor since then. Recently I noticed my old Wearlink transmitter and went on Polars website and saw that they offer a replacement battery and cover but there was no place to actually purchase this on their website. I emailed them to purchase this replacement battery and and cover (I mostly wanted the cover because my was ruined by trying to remove it to see what kind of battery was required)and they refused saying that I must send my Wearlink in for repair. The cost of doing this is excessive and I think that if a person wants to try replacing the battery and cover themself they should be allowed to try before being charged excessive fees for a battery and having to pay shipping for a service that may not be required.
It works well     On: 2007-07-18

The electrodes need to be wet before you wear it, just run it under tap water for a few seconds. It works fine with my F6 receiver and is comfortable. The treadmills in the gym also pick up the signals very well.
The treadmill has a new life.     On: 2007-05-27

Its amazing how many different functions this device unleashed on the treadmill I use. Its great to enter age, desired heartrate, speed and incline and away you go. Constant communication between the treadmill and the monitor maintain elevation and speed to keep me in my target zone.
Highly recommended for anyone who works out primarily on the treadmill.
The Wearlink HR Transmitter is great!     On: 2007-05-13

I highly recommened upgrading from the Polar T31 or T61 transmitter to the Wearlink. It feels more like a piece of clothing than the older rubber type straps. Plus, it has a replaceable battery. That alone will save you money in the long run, since the T31 and T61 batteries are not replaceable. The Wearlink feels great and works like a charm!
One step forward, but another back     On: 2007-05-07

I purchased this product to replace the original transmitter that came with my Polar F6. The biggest improvement is that original transmitter didnt come with replaceable batteries and this one does. Unfortunately, I didnt have my original long enough (lost in the locker room) to verify that the batteries do last two years so I am not sure how big of an issue this really is. I also question any electronics purchase that is expected to last longer than two years these days...

This version does come with a method for user replacing the batteries but at two costs: 1) It is not as comfortable to wear as the original strap. The new strap just seems to sit a little funny and rubs my skin the wrong way. 2) You must wet the strap with water, not just spit. The older version you could moisten the leads with a little bit of saliva on your fingers. The new strap you must really use water.

Many people have complained about the small size of the strap. Yes, the strap is pretty small. I typically wear a 48 or 50 jacket and the XX-Large strap barely fits me. I hope that as I continue to exercise this will be less of an issue so maybe this is good motivation ;-)

All in all, it is a good product as are all the Polar products I have used. I wish it was more streamlined like the original strap, but it is a fine replacement especially if you are concerned about owning for many years of hard use.
Excellent Product     On: 2007-03-29

This transmitter is much better than the original that came with my Polar S410 monitor. It is more comfortable and the battery is replaceable making it usable for longer period of time.
Wearlink transmitter is a winner     On: 2007-03-21

The Polar Wearlink transmitter is better fitting than previous transmitters. The strap is easier to adjust, and it stays where you put it. It is also more confortable and because it stays in place, it is more accurate.

I turned on my treadmill simultaneously while using my elliptical trainer, and the coded technology worked perfectly. It did not interfere with the machine next to me. I was quite pleased. This product would work perfectly in a gym situation, because it seems to only work with the equipment the strap wearer is using.
sizing is not right     On: 2007-03-14

Ordered XXL and got something that was XL. Hence the sizing is for smaller people. Chest is 46 and thought XXL would cover it. But it is rather tight and not comfortable. XXXL which is ridicuous. You should be able to adjust these things.
More comfortable than previous version     On: 2007-03-10

This HR strap has less tendency to slide down while running. It conforms to your chest better because the strap design is more flexible than the previous version. Snapping and unsnapping the chest strap is a little funky. It takes a little getting used to avoid getting the tabs jammed. Once you figure it out, it seems to work fine. The graphics (on how to snap/unsnap the strap) in the manual are not a lot of help.
Great for all HR applications     On: 2007-01-10

Works great for someone who has had trouble getting other straps to pick up HR. Great product.

Very Happy     On: 2007-01-03

Well pleased with comfort and accuracy of the transmitter. I use it with my rowing machine. Only complaint is the direction to twist the transmitter off the strap is not clearly marked. This is only a factor in the beginning, but after using it a few times it becomes a piece of cake.
poor performance     On: 2006-10-20

I have been a user of polar heart rate monitors for quite some time and when I needed a new transmitter strap I got this one. Its performance has been a disappointment. It has been difficult to get to work at all, requiring frequent rewetting and then intermittently stops transmitting data. It has failed in the field and failed in the gym. I never had this problem with the previous models
Comfortable, easy to use and maintain     On: 2006-09-16

Ive used both the older plastic and the newer fabric Wearlink transmitters. I much prefer the new Wearlink model. Ive used my Wearlink transmitter for 1.5 years with absolutely no problems. I wash the fabric strap in the washing machine (delicate cycle) occassionally after removing the hard plastic transmitter. I quickly rinse the transmitter in cool running water to remove accumulated salt build up. I still havent had to change the battery out even after 200+ hours of triathlon training and exercise bootcamps. However, I pulled the battery out just to see how easy it was. Very easy! I use my transmitter interchangeably between 2 different models of polar heart rate monitors. My strap has never torn or seemed difficult to remove. I can say from first hand experience that the soft Wearlink transmitter is much more comfortable when wearing an underwire sports bra. The hard plastic model frequently skipped and lost contact when paired with my underwire sports bra. Ive never had that issue with the soft Wearlink model. The Wearlink also works well in water. Chlorine doesnt seem to bother it but I rinse the strap and transmitter in cool running water after each swim.
Just another disposable transmitter     On: 2006-09-05

This transmitter is very comfortable. However the main problem arises when, just about over a year from the date of purchase, one has to change the battery of the unit. The lid does not open! One can easily turn the lid to the full "open" position; but, doing so does not produce the desired result at all. The lid remains locked and does not pop out! Good luck to anybody buying this unit thinking that he/she will be able to change the battery when it goes dead!
The way the strap is connected to the transmitter is also poorly designed. Disconnecting the strap from the transmitter requires a lot of care so that breakage of the locking mechanism does not happen.

A lot More Comfortable and Less Expensive in the Long Run     On: 2006-08-02

One big improvement from the original transmitters (T31 or T61 transmitters) is that with this model (the Wearlink) you only have to buy a new battery and replace it once they ran out and your transmitter is ready to use again. With the original ones you have to buy a new transmitter every time the battery dies, since the whole structure is sealed. So if your Polar wrist watch came with the T31 or T61, wait until the battery is finished and buy the Wearlink transmitter instead, you will save a lot of money over the years (compare the 39.95 US$ that the T31 or T61 cost vs the cost of a replacement battery).

The other big advantage is that the Wearlink transmitter is more confortable to wear, since it adapts better to the shape of your body since even the electrodes are flexible and are embedded in the fabric. Being flexible and all makes it easier to storage it your pocket when your finish training or if you are traveling.

In summary a great product for your Polar HRM, and a smart improvement if it is time to replace your old transmitter. Dont buy another T31 or T61, buy this one instead.

I run with my Polar six days a week, and probably train about ten hour a week with it. I used to have the T31 with my first Polar (the M61) so I can tell you first hand the Wearlink is far better. In summary more confortable, easier to wash, and a money saver. I was more than happy to trow the old one away after I bought this one.

polar wearlink belt     On: 2006-07-25

The belt works great Ive not missed a beat with it on. Id say it maybe a little more comfortable than the standard belt. but the clip that snaps the belt together is a bit tricky?? Also its not that big of a belt im 61" 160lbs and ive got the belt loosened up to its max and it fits perfect if your any bigger it would be tight on your chest maybe should go with a bigger size if there is one??
Finally - I can replace the battery!     On: 2006-02-28

I bought this belt to replace the one that came with my Polar watch (720i) since the one the watch came with did not have a replaceable battery (you are supposed to send the belt in and get a replacement belt for about $10 less than this belt - but you still cant replace the battery). So I figured I can buy this one and by the simple act of replacing the battery I can save myself a decent amount of money.

This band is very comfortable (I am a big guy at 64" with a large build and it fits me no problem). it is more comfortable than my original one and works great. And when I need to replace the battery, the belt came with several replacement battery gaskets so that I can ensure each replacement remains water tight.

works well     On: 2006-01-29

Warning. Amazon reviews and descriptions can be deceiving. This transmitter works wonderfully with a wide distance on a Precor treadmill and is light weight, fits (comfortably) a medium to xx-large mens chest and doesnt require a lot of maintenance. The contacts are wide enough to make good skin contact on your chest and is easy to snap on and off. The price was good, too. Buy from Amazon, not from the other listed vendors, you get timely (and free) shipping, no taxes and a quality product.
Broken after 10 months     On: 2005-10-11

Very comfortable, but from the start I felt uncomfortable about that
latch. It was hard to open and made very strange sound, like breaking. I used the strap 2-3 times a week for a 1.5 hours. After 10 months I tried to open the left side to wash the strap and the metal button from the strap tore away.
comfortable, washable, serviceable     On: 2005-08-29

Im happy to throw away my original polar belt; this one is much better.
Excellent transmitter     On: 2005-07-27

This is the 3rd transmitter I am buying. I lost the other 2 - left them in hotel rooms while traveling.

This transmitter is comfortable. Even though its "coded", I still have an occassional problem with picking up signals from someone on a piece of equipment next to me.

Although this transmitter may look like it will break, I can attest that its extremely durable. You dont need to worry about breaking this thing, but dont forget to pack it when you check out !
more comfortable than the rubber model     On: 2005-02-01

I bought this transmitter because I did not know that the Polar Heart Rate Monitors came with a transmitter included in the box. I could not find anything that specified this, so I ended up purchasing an extra transmitter.

That being said, this transmitter is super comfortable. The rubber model that comes with the heart rate monitors does not have any comfort issues over this one. The electrodes are sewn inside the fabric of the strap, and they are soft. The only hard piece on this is the plastic transmitter part that is not that big in the front. If you are doing something that involves a lot of body motion, like aerobics, tennis, dance or lifting weights, this fabric model is a better alternative to the rubber model. This fabric strap transmitter might also be a better option for women, who may already be dealing with an underwire bra at the gym.

As far as functionality goes, you wont really need a coded transmitter unless you are using the HRM in a crowded environment where EVERYONE is using monitors. Like at my gym, where the personal trainers sell the Polar brand of HRMs, hold weekly training classes about them, and encourage everyone to buy them. If you dont find yourself in this type of environment, but you find the regular transmitter to be uncomfortable, than this is for you. If the regular transmitter does not hurt you, then you dont really need this.

One problem with this transmitter is the clip mechanism that you use to snap it shut. The little plastic points that clip in look like something I am going to break in about a month. Everytime I snap it open or closed I feel like Im breaking it.
