 Movado Men's Valor Watch #0604773 By: Movado Average Rating: 5.0 Total Reviews: 1 More Information A true classic  On: 2007-07-24Movado watches are nowhere near the top of the price scale of high-end timepieces, and yet their designs are often among the most unique, beautiful and timeless creations available. Among them, I personally consider the round-face Valor (as opposed to the square-face version) to be "the Movado to end all Movados." It is hard to imagine a more pure watch design than this. The Valor is the ultimate in minimalist design, featuring a simple, flat, extremely thin watch face integrated into a post-industrial style, mirror-like, polished bracelet. Whereas more and more watches scream at you with huge, clunky designs and over-the-top detail, the Valor is an essay in simplicity. Such simplicty could prove boring in another design, but in the Valor it proves to be alluring and hypnotic. The secret to this watchs success is the dark, blue-grey, gun-metal tone of the tungsten carbide bracelet. If this were a steel bracelet, the high polish would be too bright and flashy; but the darker tungsten carbide subdues it enough to make the bracelet more "mystical," if such a term is appropriate. The combined effect of design and materials is a perfect blend of form and function. Wearing this watch is truly like wearing art on your wrist. Of course, this could be said of many Movados; after all, Movado does tout themselves as "the museum watch." Still, the Valor holds a vaunted place among Movados many designs. I have been a Movado aficionado for many years, and honestly believe this is among the most beautiful watches they have yet produced. Ironically, Movado is discontinuing this model. In some ways that is unfortunate, although it will ultimately add to this models mystique, since there will come a time when it will not be easy to find. People are always commenting on how beautiful it is and I see men always turning to look at my husbands wrist when he wears it. Its like moths to a flame when he wears this watch! Of course you have the Movado quality, the same company makes Concord, ESQ, and Movado. |
