Reliable, easy to use, and comfortable     On: 2008-01-01

Ive been using the M32 for about a year. I had no previous experience with heart rate monitors before purchasing this product. I have found it to be a valuable aid in maximizing the results of my workouts. If all you want is beats per minute this product is probably overkill.

I use the M32 primarily on my bicycle, with the wrist unit mounted to the handle bars. In this configuration it always seems to capture the signal from the chest strap. While using it on a trainer Ive compared its BPM to a good quality automatic blood pressure monitor, and it was spot on every time. Small changes in my pedal cadence are reflected in small changes in my BPMs.

The strap is relatively comfortable. I occasionally notice that its present, but its not uncomfortable in any way. It doesnt chafe or feel sticky or clammy. I just notice the slight pressure of it around my chest.

Once you read the manual its a fairly easy device to use. The one area in which the manual could use improvement is the section where it explains how the upper and lower heart rate limits are set. All in all though, its not too difficult to follow. I think it took less than 30 minutes to go through the instructions and understand how to set up and use the M32.
Polar Heart Monitor     On: 2007-05-20

I was very pleased with the "Polar M32 Heart Monitor" Im not tech savvy but found the setup process very easy. As far as I can tell the monitor is very accurate and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a affordable heart monitor.

This is a great watch that is simple to use. It shows you the basic stats such as heart rate, excercise time, etc. The book explains in simple terms how to use it (which is good, because the first few times I used the watch, I wasnt fully aware of some of its features.)It will also store all of your stats so you can see a total calorie burn, excercise time, etc. for all of your workouts combined. The only thing I wish this watch had was a mileage count for running/walking.

I upgraded from another Polar product and love this one. Its easy to use and saves the workout info. The strap is fairly comfortable and easy to remove. I can check the calorie count and time in target zone while I workout which is useful. Very satisfied.
Perfect     On: 2007-05-12

This unit does everything I wanted it to do and it does it with ease. I dont use the OwnZone feature. Instead I input my limits manually. And its great that I have the ability to choose. Be sure to purchase the elastic band accessory. It is far more comfortable than the standard belt. It costs a little more but it is worth it!
Good watch!     On: 2007-05-07

This Hr Monitor is an old version but still has the functions we look for. It is definetly a begginers watch. I mean in Polar and HR monitors not in sports. The best part of this watch is the chest band.
Trustworthy     On: 2007-04-28

I have used heart rate monitors from several different companies over the years. My requirements are not difficult to meet - all I need is capture of heart rate within a set zone and display of the total time-in-zone at the end of the workout. Truthfully, almost every heart rate monitor Ive owned met this performance test.

I will say that the chest strap for the M32 Wearlink is probably the lightest and most comfortable I have had. I think the estimated 100 machine washings for the strap is conservative; I believe I have exceeded that number, with the strap still functioning fine. However, bear in mind that the strap will eventually wear out and require replacement.

I got the M32 a couple of years ago when I started working out at a health club, and noticed disruptive interference between the built-in cardio monitors and the HRM I was wearing. Sometimes referred to as crosstalk. My personal HRM became confused, garbled, and unreliable. Why not just use the HRM built in to the cardio machine? Any serious exerciser knows the answer to this question. Anyway, I got the M32 and all was well. I have never had a problem with reception, identification, or accumulation. Interestingly, the built-in receivers in most cardio machines will pick up the M32s transmitter, giving two real time heart displays during the workout.

I hope Polar continues to make the M32 for some time - Im sure to need replacement in the future.
Very nice unit good bargain     On: 2007-04-23

All in all, this is a nice HRM...it is accuratlely tracking my fitness and I can see improvements in the heart rate ranges I use for my workouts. Very nice when doing cardio to different sources that may not track right (like DDR on PS2 or hiking). Only drawback is the chest belt is hard to clean since the main units does not like detaching from the elastic band. A little soak in tide and cold water fixes this. Would have liked to have gotten the M62 for two people but for what we use it for, this is very nice and does track fat calories burned in a workout.
Great Heart Rate Monitor     On: 2007-04-02

The Polar M32 is a great heart rate monitoring device; the watch is easy to setup and use, the chest strap is a cinch to take on and off, and the bands that read your heart rate are well designed.

I would recommend this heart rate monitor to anyone looking for a quality model under one hundred american dollars.
Enough for what I need it     On: 2007-03-15

I am satisfy with the watch / heart rate monitor.
Instruction could be easier to read and understand, Numbers in the Heart Rate Indicator, could be bigger, design could be more attractive.
Its OK for what you pay, I am restarting gym, so I dont need more. Worth for me
Does what it's supposed to...     On: 2007-03-05

Sure, you can buy a fancier Heart Rate Monitor Watch, but for the average user, theres no need for all the advanced functions on that watch. The Polar M32 has enough functionality for the average user, and is easy to use. Basic functions like Time-in-Zone and my current heart rate is about all I really need to guide my workout. I dont have enough time to plug this into my computer to analyze and track previous workouts...if youre looking for a watch to do that, the M32s not for you. Shell out the big bucks and get a different Polar watch.

Polar is the standard-bearer for HRMs, and Im very satisfied with not only the watch, but the chest strap. Ive had cheaper brands that were uncomfortable over the long-haul. This strap is not only comfortable, it doesnt snap off like some of the cheapies.

Overall, this is a high quality HRM for the price.
Can't live without it!     On: 2007-03-03

This is the first polar watch I have bought..but I am addicted! I can exercise much more efficiently and it is a must for serious trainers! I am guessing it is the same model..because the one I just got is black and square..so I am guessing they came out with a new model.
I like this monitor     On: 2007-01-10

I bought this heart rate monitor to help me in training for marathons. I am very satisfied with it. It allows me to track time spent in the recommended training zone versus total exercise time, which is the feature I use the most. I wish the stopwatch feature included hundredths, instead of just to the nearest second. I like being able to turn off the warning beeper, which I find annoying. This monitor never looses my heart rate, unless I neglect to moisten the electrodes. It is very reliable, and the strap is comfortable..

Makes exercise a more exact science at home. Emphasizes the importance of working your body in the proper heart-rate zone for your age. Just enter your age and weight, and the exercise regime is set up for you.

An Excellent Training Companion - It Will Help you Get in Shape and Stay Fit

The Polar M32 is simply Awesome. I bough this watch about a year ago for my wife and she loves it.

Once she started using it, she was hooked-up to all the useful information the watch shows during your running, walking, or any kind of training or workout.

Its the perfect complement to your desire to get in shape, improve your health or competitive level.

The watch is easy to use. The transmitter that comes with this model is better than the one that comes with other models, since you can replace the battery when it runs out (with the other model you have to buy a new transmitter, since it is sealed).

As soon as you star training and exercising with this magnificent watch, you feel as if you have a coach or a training partner with you.

If you are an athlete, an enthusiastic runner, a hobbyist, or just conscious about your shape and health, you will definitely love this watch. She does. I own the s625x running computer from Polar and I love it to.

In my case, when I bought my first Polar wrist watch, about six years ago, I also bought the book "Heart rate monitor training for the complete idiot". I was looking for an introductory reference on the use of heart rate monitors for general fitness improvements, and wasnt disappointed at all, since what I learned really worked out for me: Armed with my Polar I was able to drop more than 200 lbs in about eight months, and the heart rate monitor training has helped me keep those lbs off for over six years. Not only I went from size 44 to size 32 pants, but also obtained substantial benefits that included weight control, cardiovascular improvements, lowered blood pressure, and improved muscular-skeletal strength and flexibility, but also the myriad of mental and psychological benefits derived from being in the best shape of my life.

The book taught me how to calculate the most important parameters for heart rate monitor training: Maximum Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, the Recovery Ceiling, and the Threshold Flour. When I first started training with the heart rate monitor I was unable to jog even for five uninterrupted minutes without gasping for air. After a few months of following one of the training principles lay out in the book (The Hard/Easy Principle): alternating hard training days with easy training days, I was able to go jogging for 90 uninterrupted minutes six days a week.

The only problem was having to send it to my folks so they could send it to me. For whatever reason they wont ship to APO addresses.
Excellent heartrate monitor with handwashable chest strap     On: 2006-02-07

This is the first heartrate monitor Ive purchased, and Ive had it for about a year. Ive been incredibly impressed with its accuracy, features, and durability.

I did a lot of research (online and with personal recommendations) on what to look for in a good heartrate monitor, and this one has some of the most useful features. The "Ownzone" feature is nice. You can use this as a watch, stopwatch, pulserate monitor, etc. It is easy to turn on & off the audible alarm. The chest strap is very comfortable and easy to use, and my understanding is that its easy to replace the batteries (havent had to do that yet). Also, it tracks your individual workout results and long-term (I like to set it new every week to track progress from week-to-week).

Ive used this for walking, cardio machines, and spinning classes.

I highly recommend getting a heartrate monitor for exercise, especially one that doesnt require an entire new cheststrap when the battery runs out. Ive realized that I burn fat more effectively by keeping my heartrate from going too high, and this is a great tool for monitoring it.
Not a Watch for Men!!     On: 2005-12-19

I was really disappointed when I opened the Amazon box - this watch is clearly being marketed to women - images of women working out on the inside and outside of the monitor box - and the watch is small and thinner. This was to be a present for my husband but I had to return it.

polar monitor not what it is suppose to be     On: 2005-12-03

the polar manuel is either outdated or talking about a different watch. the settings are very difficult to set as well as bring up onto the small screen. it appears to be made of some cheap give away watch and is so difficult to use that once you complete your Ph.D, you should be able to get to page 9. once at page 9 you will wonder why you got there in the first place. this product is not what is suppose to be, easy to use and user friendly are not what it is.
Alot of data for a resonable price     On: 2005-11-30

Ive had my M32 for about a year. Im into general Cardio-Vascular fitness. I spend between an hour and an hour and a half in the gym 5-6 days a week. Im 64. This monitor gives me all the data I need to monitor my routine which consists of both Cardio machines and Circuit training. I especially like the Calorie counter and the storage function. I accumilate a weeks worth of data and reset it at the beginning of each week. The monitor has performed flawlessly and I am extremely pleased with it.

Never misses a beat!     On: 2005-11-03

I had tried many other heart rate monitors before I started doing some research. Once I found this one and read the reviews, I knew I needed to try it. This little gem impresses right out of the box. Thats right, the first thing you will notice is that the transmitter is very small, and is a seperate unit. All of the other ones I had tried had the electrodes and transmitter together in a rigid rubber compound. Not this beauty. The electrodes are in the strap and they are about 5 inches long. These will stay connected to your chest no problem. The strap is SOFT and does not annoy you while you work out. You really dont even know it is there, unlike other models I have tried.

I love how it calculates my own Zones for me, computes my calories and will keep track of total calories burned over a long period of time.

My only disappointment is that I should have gone for the upper echelon model that works with 2 users. Between the wife and myself, we will definitely be fighting to use it when we go running!

great gift!!!     On: 2005-10-09

After shopping around for a gift for my wife I finally desided to buy the Polar M32 HRM. We recently started running together and I knew this kind of device would motivate her. We have been very plesantly surprised about this equipment. It really works great and gives you sufficient data about your training to monitor your progress. So far, we have only found one thing that in our case didnt work well: the "own zone" calibration. If you are not completely have the "normal" physiology with heartrate of 220-age etc, the suggested "own zone" is not correct and the HRM will indicate that you are exercising outsite our optimal level when this is not accurate. We have simply turned off the Own zone measurements and use the alternative settings of lower and higher settings for optimal efficiency. Except for this, this, is a great watch!!!
Great Heart Rate Monitor     On: 2005-09-28

This is a great product. I like how they have integrated the sensors into the soft strap. It is much more comfortable than the old solid rubber strap. The own zone functions are a great way to monitor your exercise to ensure enough time in the fitness zone. I also like the addition of the replaceable battery in the sensor.
very happy     On: 2005-09-06

This is my 3rd Polar Heart Monitor and I am very happy with it. The only reason I gave it a 4 and not 5 is that when trying to reset the values (Kcal + exercise time) at the end of the week, it is a little tricky.
Otherwise, I would give it a 5.
Works as Advertised     On: 2005-08-05

Product has worked as advertised without any problems. The functions on the watch are relatively intutive. I like the product.
Excellent     On: 2005-03-17

This is an excellent heart rate monitor. It has all the basic functions that I need and has the comfortable fabric strap for the WearLink transmitter. It is very easy to use. I set my heart rate zone manually since the Ownzone function has given me some weird settings. During exercise, I can see my heart rate, and it can give an alarm if my heart rate is above or below the zone. After exercise it saves a file that gives me the total exercise time, total time in the zone, average heart rate, calories burned, and % fat burned, total exercise time since the last reset and total calories burned since last reset.

I find it easier to just set a wider heart rate zone of 60% - 90% of maximum heart rate. If I want a light aerobic exercise I just try to keep it above 60%. If I want to work harder, I will get the heart rate higher but slow down if it gets above 90% so I dont over do it.

This is a great way to get back into better physical fitness and to do it safely with some guidance. I highly recommend the book Younger Next Year, which talked about why and how to use a heart rate monitor.
