![]() Daniel JeanRichard_Watch Watch 24020R01P5110-00 By: Daniel JeanRichard Average Rating: 5.0 Total Reviews: 1 More Information 300 Meter Diver with Girard-Perregaux quality! Few people are aware that Daniel JeanRichard is owned by the same luxury watch group, Sowind, which also owns Girard-Perregaux; one of the worlds finest timepieces. Both Girard-Perregaux and DJR are based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, and because of this, the brands seem to share a great deal of synergy. The DJR is an incredible value and offers extremely high quality and functionality at a price that is literally thousands of dollars less than the lowest priced G-P! Daniel JeanRichard has recently dropped the "Daniel" and changed their name to simply "JeanRichard" and at the same time raised the prices through the roof. This watch was produced prior to the re-branding. It is already becoming apparent that GP intends to move the renamed brand "up market", and you do not have to have an MBA to realize that this simply stands for "higher priced". Check out the newly revised JeanRichard website, and I think you will understand; there is not a single watch at this price point, and a watch of this quality will not be available for very long with this marketing strategy currently being implemented, so now is the time to buy one, while they are still available. Although very comfortable on the wrist, this is a very large, very weighty watch, and you should be aware of this fact if you have a small wrist, as this may present a problem, but if you like a large, masculine, yet urbane watch, then by all means, this is the watch for you; it just somehow feels right, either resting in your hand or strapped to your wrist. The classic PVD case is a timeless classic, and is designed as a true professional divers watch should be; anti-reflective when underwater. The luminescent is of the highest quality, and the dial is highly visible even in near complete darkness, and at great depth. The crown located on the left or the "back" of the watch, is the one which is utilized to set the time, change the date, and it screws down deeply into the case. This can take a little time to get used to, and it isnt very easy to accomplish these tasks while its on the wrist, but its a true professional divers watch; one that is rated at 300, not 30 meters, and the bezel timer is typically used much more than performing these other infrequent functions. The crown located on the right, or in the "normal" crown position is used to turn the bi-directional bezel for the diver timing function of the watch. By turning this crown, with the snick, snick, snick of the internal gear mechanism, you can actually "feel" the quality of this watch. Interestingly, while this watch is an automatic, you can still manually wind the watch by unscrewing this crown, and then simply winding it yourself, which is a very nice feature to have, especially if you do not plan to wear the watch everyday, or have a watch winder to keep it moving and wound on a regular basis, which is critical to maintaining an automatic watch effectively over a long period of time. The two crowns and the beautiful, easy to read black dial are what gives this watch its distinctive and unique look, which is sporty, and at the same time looks extremely classy. The watch is equipped with the 25-jewel caliber DJR 24 jewel automatic movement with a frequency of 28,800 bhp (vibrations per hour). Once again, an incredible movement for a watch in this price range! The rubber strap is of much high quality than what is typically found on divers with a much, much higher price point. Lastly, the watch is water resistant to a depth of 1000 ft. / 300 meters. Once again, price any other watch out there with this capacity, and you will discover what a bargain this watch really is. Treated properly, and in light of its pedigree, this watch should last a lifetime, and at the same time retain a high value based upon its current price in the years ahead. |
