worst watch made?     On: 2007-06-13

I got a Tissot T-touch for my birthday two years ago. For the first year it was great, then I started having problems. Things not functioning, baromoter, altimiter etc. Slowly the functions disapered one by one. I was told it was the battery, so I had the battery replaced and it did nothing. We were on a trip in Switzerland so a friend took it in and got it serviced. I dont know what they did, it was still under warranty. Anyway, now its been two years, about 6 months since I got the watch back and it is even worse than before. Now the only thing that works is the altimiter, I can barely get it to tell time anymore. I dont know what to do at this point. Did I get a lemon?

1 year, 4 movements     On: 2007-01-06

This would be a beautiful and elegant piece of technology - if it worked. I bought mine just under a year ago, but Ive not worn it for more than 10 days at a stretch before the compass stopped working - the hand locked between 20 and 10 to the hour. First time this happened, I continued wearing the watch, and watched as over a period of a couple of weeks all other functions failed, one by one, till finally only non-adjustable timekeeping remained. The second and third time, I just returned it to the Swatch dealer (here in Hong Kong), where each time Ive been impassively told the movement would be replaced. First time I got the watch back within 3 weeks, second time they had to send to Switzerland for a replacement, so it took 2 months. The third time, in response to my protests about my watchs extreme unreliability, they stamped my repair form urgent, and it will be ready in just 2 weeks.

But Im pretty confident Ill be back there again soon. Ive not mistreated the watch in any way: the worst its had to endure have been showers and roadbike rides. The only conclusion that can be drawn from 4 identical failures in one year is that this is a seriously flawed product. Even if the next movement seems to work, Id never risk taking it on holiday without another watch as backup - which is normal for cameras, say, but ridiculous for watches!
these watches are rubbish..     On: 2006-10-08

service is rubbish, the watch is rubbish, nothing but problems and all the agent repairers do is send it back with a grotty instruction sheet from Tissot saying basically dont bother putting it in water and dont press the pushers or it will can out... derrrrr this is just the most usless watch i have ever bought and I have one of all the best! serial number of mine: Z252/352 QKQ-OR-124498... oh well back to the repairs again as its gone wrong for the forth time in 12 months... altimeter this time :( useless.
Problems with the compass     On: 2006-07-08

Hi,
I bought one T-toch a year and a half ago. I loved this watch. Im a gadget guy and to have everything in one... but unfortunately I hade problems with the compass. The fist time, 6 months ago, I took it as it was under guarantee and they replaced it. Now, six months latter, with a new one... same thing. I thought it was my fault because I travel a lot and I did put the watch through the x-rays, but with the second one, I never put it... so they have faulty compass....
don't touch the T-touch     On: 2006-04-18

I have 2 T-touches, one I bought on Ebay and one my son gave me for a birthday (he didnt know I already had one). The first one died after swimming, it was fixed under warranty by the Ebay seller, the compass doesnt work. The 2nd one also died, the dealer said that water was the problem, prior to dying, the compass also stopped working. Too bad.. I might just buy a cheaper Swatch.
Great x-mas gift     On: 2006-01-20

I received this watch as a gift and absolutely love it. The best thing in my opinion is its size. The watch may be considered bulky by some, however for large wrists it fits like a dream.

Most of the functions are gimmicks, however the alarm and stopwatch are very functional.
warranty     On: 2005-12-31

5 stars for the watch, less one for lack of warranty. Be aware that most manufacturers warranties are valid only if the item is purchased through an authorized seller. Not all (if any) Amazon sellers are authorized sellers. Do not expect Tissot to honor the 3 year warranty that another reviewer mentioned unless you purchase from an authorized seller. For more info, see the Tissot website www.tissot.ch
not water resistant     On: 2005-11-14

Ive been fooled by Tissot, and will never give them money again. My watch came with the following restrictions: 1) do not scuba dive 2) do not press the buttons underwater. It came with an adhesive in the backside with this info as well as in the users manual.
I did not scuba dive, I did not press the buttons underwater, but water entered my watch! Was a defect of my copy? NO! Its just that there is one more thing they OMITTED! I couldnt have diven my watch AT ALL. I dived it 1 meter unterwater, and now its damaged. (although its written "water resist 30m" on the watch). What the seller said to me? He said "when its written water resist 30m, you can hardly wash your hand with the watch, but never go underwater!". This seems to me like a Monty Python thing... "When its written A, you must undestand B! Apart from that its all normal" The problem was that in this case, the idiot was me!
I ask the smart guys from Tissot: "Why the h...they put a sign not to press the buttons underwater, when I cant go underwater AT ALL?". I also wrote an email to Tissot. No response, obviously.
Under-rated watch, future collectible     On: 2005-09-11

I bought my Tissot T Touch nearly three years ago -- basically, when the watches first hit the market.

This watch is a great piece of engineering, despite the fact that most of its underlying guts are no more glamorous than a $50 Swatch (who, ironically, owns Tissot). For all its quirks, I love this watch. Its comfortable and properly styled, looking sharper than watches costing 10x its cost. This thing is a daily driver that needs little or no care or maintenance. Id gladly pay $700 again for this watch, and should anything happen to my beloved Tissot, Id buy another in a heartbeat. Cant say that about most quartz watches.

The touch-screen crystal is really cool -- no doubt about it. The features it surfaces (referred to as complications to horologists) are novel but limited.

The alarm and compass work as desired, and theyre really the only two "complications" that matter beyond telling time. Everything else is just a gimmick: the thermometer gives the temperature of your wrist instead of the ambient air. The barometer can tell you if there are clouds above your head (turns out that its faster to simply look up). The altimeter needs constant calibration, but otherwise works as advertised.

Normally, Id say its nuts to recommend spending more than $50 for a watch with quartz movement. But in this case, if you can swallow the nerdstyle premium without a care, this is a GREAT watch.
Tissot T-Touch Titanum     On: 2005-03-30

Great watch. Looks good. Feels good on. Quality has been excellent, so far. I only have two complaints, one minor and one moderate. Minor: When you touch the face to change functions you get fingerprints all on the crystal. Moderate: It has no backlight--makes it tough to impossible to read in the dark.
Tissot T-Touch Titanium     On: 2004-12-10

This is a good-looking watch and even more functional one. I love the Thermo and Altimiter - I can play the whole day with them, checking the temperature in LA or how high I am above the sea level. Good toy for big boys. It looks great and is the only Titanium T-touch/multi-touch watch out there. My favorites are Hamiltons with the same functions, just because of looks, but Tissot has a Swiss Name behind it.
