The time and date with a sense of style - a true classic

The IWC XV Pilot Watch is a timeless (no pun intended) classic. With its big clear numbers (perfect for us aging boomers)and beautifully finished leather strap with deployment clasp (offering comfort without having to struggle with a buckle), this is a mans watch you can wear day after day in complete comfort. Bucking the trend to go huge and heavy, IWC has built in just the right heft and size, again, helping make this a watch you look forward to wearing. The "glow in the dark" indicators on the dial make for easy reading when the lights are out - not as bright as some but quite acceptable. Unless you are Jacques Cousteau, the screw down crown will ensure that the watch will remain waterproof for years to come. For those of us obsessed with having the exact time, this watch has an accurate "hack" feature (i.e., the second hand stops when the stem is pulled out). Stop the second hand at 12, set the time and when the radio announces the exact time, press the stem in and youre good to go. My XV runs about 3 seconds slow a day - not bad for a mechancal watch. While I think that this is not a true IWC "manufacture" movement, called the 30110 calibre, the photos I have seen of the insides are quite beautiful. Whether you are looking to treat yourself to a magnificent every-day watch or just want to augment your watch collection, the IWC XV is worth a long look.
