Sorry Robert, I'm not buying it!

Ive been looking for a new watch for a while now and was a little suspicious of the favorable review given to this watch by Mr Grant which intentionally contradicts the negative comments of an earlier reviewer. So I clicked on Mr. Grants profile to see what other items he had reviewed. As of this writing (07-Nov-2006), the listing of reviews he has left shows only the same "cut-and-paste" review of this watch for (5) other Klaus Kobec watches (for a total of 6 different Klaus Kobec watches) -and thats it!!!

Now Im going to go out on a limb, but given the current wording of Mr. Grants review (Quoted below so he cant change it), I find myself highly suspicious of the idea that he is truly an unbiased customer. His review feels just a bit too manufactured -too snappy -like a marketing sound-byte, to be from a benign consumer. Also, given that he states he has purchased six Klaus Kobec watches, I would assume him to be a watch collector -interested like others, in sharing his valuable timepiece experience with the rest of us. But this isnt the case. As of this writing, he has no other reviews on any other watches -let alone any other products. So why hasnt he posted reviews on any other watch brands (He may now because Ive posted this.)??? Ill tell you why...I suspect theres something fishy going on here. Yea, I dont know for sure, but Id bet my watch on it. Its too bad that this forum for feedback has been tainted by Mr. Grants apparent dishonesty. As for me, Ill keep looking for my next timepiece.

Here is Mr. Grants current review that appears on the following watches:

1. "Klaus Kobec Couture Sports Gold Leather - Mens watch"
2. "No Title Available, Availability: This item is currently unavailable." (This appears when the item is no longer listed.)
3. "No Title Available, Availability: This item is currently unavailable." (This appears when the item is no longer listed.)
4. "Klaus Kobec Diamond Entourage Two Tone - Mens watch "
5. "No Title Available, Availability: This item is currently unavailable." (This appears when the item is no longer listed.)
6. "Klaus Kobec Couture Sports Steel Leather - Mens watch"

The Review:

Excellent Timepiece, March 30, 2005
Reviewer: Robert Grant "Robert" (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
Would disagree with the comments below, have recently purchased the above timepeice, excellent quality, excellent customer service. Couldnt review highly enough. With regards to the comments on the review below, i do not understand what product they are referring to. My timepiece arrived in a wonderful presentation box and a manual. You will not be dissapointed if you order this product.

Finally, so why did I write this retaliatory review? Because I rely on these as do many of you in making my decisions; and Im mad as heck (Yes, Im from Utah.) that hes posting what appear to me to be dishonest and misleading reviews.
Excellent Timepiece!

I AM A PRICE SHOPPER WHEN LOOKING FOR FINE WATCHES. GUESS WHAT, I VE LOOKED AT KLAUS KOBEC, STEINHAUSEN, STAUER... ALL THESE CHEAP BUT SELF-CLAIMED TIMEPIECES WATCHES.

I DECIDED TO TRY A KLAUS KOBEC PRICED AT $185. WHEN I COMPARED IT WITH CITIZEN AT0120 SERIES, CITIZEN CALIBRE 8700 SERIES OR ESQ QUEST CHRONOGRAPH LEATHER STRAP; THAT I OWN (ALL PRICE AROUND $180.00)MY ADVICE COULDNT BE CLEARER: DONT BUY THESE WATCHES. THEIR LEATHER, STEEL OR CLASP ARE NOT CLOSE TO THOSE OF THE BRANDS I VE JUST LISTED.

MOREOVER, ONE OF THEIR MODELS MADE BY A FICTITIOUS DANIEL STEINER ($200) IS A REPLICA OF FRANCK MULLER ($157), THE REPLICA IS SOLD WITHOUT BOX OR MANUAL. TYPE DANIEL STEINER IN ANY SEARCH ENGINE, RESULT: ALMOST UNKNOWN FOR A FINE WATCH MAKER!!! TYPE FRANCK MULLER, WELL KNOWN LIKE PATEK PHILIP, DANIEL JEANRICHARD, IWC ...

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY, DONT BE FOULED.

Bought this watch new from Timepieces International. Their website price of $685 is obscene (timepiecesusa.com) I bought it from them for $159. it is a decent watch in the same way a Timex is a decent watch. The little blue plastic "jewels" on the pushers fell off. Leather band has a nice butterfly clasp, however the leather band itself is poor quality and fell apart quickly. The metal pins that secure the leather band to the lugs on the case have bent as well. The appearance/style of the watch is nice, however material and craftsmanship are inferior.
