It was not this cheap model, because he had the battery replaced on that quite often and it kept working, and I understand from reviewers that this might not. But at a price cheaper than a battery change for my fathers watch, this is a truly excellent watch. It has understated refinement and elegance; it is waterproof and reliable; the lightness and the plastic strap means you wont sweat and it wont irritate you, and no numbers means the watchmaker decided not to insult your intelligence. Not for me a flashy, bukly Rolex or Omega; not for me any whacking big metal watch; not for me a digital watch; not for me a watch with a whacking great dial; not for me any fancy bells and whistles; not for me even digits. No, this is a functional, simple, classic, well-proportioned, unostentatious and elegant watch. I love it. Good, plain watch  On: 2008-09-29Im in college and I really needed a watch for time management. This second hand is great. I wear it with business attire and even when I workout. Plus it is waterproof so it will last longer especially when it rains. Casio Classic Watch On: 2008-07-17I wanted a lightweight watch that I can wear when I play golf and tennis that also looks good. Ive used this watch for about 5 years. When the battery goes down (12-18 mos.), I buy a new one. I have found that when the battery is replaced, moisture gets in the watch and it clouds up on humid days. Keeps time better than a Rolex. I love this watch! A simple, good watch On: 2008-03-06I bought this watch because Casio is a respected brand, and the watch is simple, light, and elegant. Ive had this watch for a month now and have been wearing it ever since; its comfortable and easy to read. I set it on the day it arrived and its still ticking precisely on time. Minimal, Reliable, Accurate On: 2008-01-08Got this watch as an alternative to my Omega Speedmaster, which is a heavy, bulky, and complex timepiece. This Casio is so light, so comfortable, and so accurate that I havent worn the Omega since this came in. Moreover, I dont take the watch off for anything. Even though it doesnt claim to be waterproof, I wear it each morning in the shower, and even when I go swimming. Your mileage my vary with that, but mine is still dry inside. Additionally, these watches are accurate. I keep a radio-updated clock near my desk, and my $8 watch is almost always dead on. Best of all, when it dies a replacement costs about the same as a battery. Better yet, buy a half-dozen in with different faces for different occasions. You really cannot go wrong with one of these. Casio Classic basic black watch On: 2008-01-02Ive never worn a watch regularly, but wanted to give it a try so I clicked on a link to "cheap watches" I found somewhere on Amazon. A few days later, I received the Casio Classic that currently resides on my wrist. Its light, simple and keeps excellent time. I am very satisfied with my Casio watch. Nice cheap watch On: 2007-09-07Nice product, great price, keeps accurate time, and is thin compared to other Casio watches. It is extremely light too. It looks very elegant. However, the resin band looks terrible and belies the cheap nature of this watch. Amazing cheap watch! by: lighten_up_already2 On: 2007-03-04 For less money than getting the batteries replaced on one of the watches I already own, I was able to get this cheap watch thats attractive enough to wear around the office! Excellent product On: 2007-02-18I did some research by reading the previous reviews and I would say they are right. You definitely would not regret buying this watch. Its cheap and also looks awesome. One fo the best you can get for this money. Way too cool... On: 2007-02-01This watch is surprisingly stylish. I have gotten many compliments about it; some even mistook it for a Swatch skin (its not nearly as thin as a Swatch skin, but its pretty thin nonetheless). Just the looks of this watch won me over. Ok... it wasnt all about looks. How can you find a watch any cheaper than $7.00 of this quality? Ive had a few Casios in the past, and they are reliable watches. The gold-colored hands and dial-symbols with the black case and strap gives the watch a definite refined edge to it. Did I mention it costs 7 bucks? The only problem Ive had with the watch so far is that it (rarely) gets caught on the hair on my wrist and pulls on it a little. It makes for a sudden surprise, but nothing that would stop me from wearing it. I dont usually write reviews for products I buy, but this watch is so great I felt compelled to write one. Andiamo Fratelli On: 2007-01-05I love this little watch. I do not like gawdy jewelry and this is the opposite. I am buying my third one now. They seem to last me through about one or two battery changes and then go on the fritz. After about a year or 2, the band needs replacing, so im going to be a little more careful (less careless) this next time around. I originally bought it because it looked just like a brand that was a lot more expensive. I was a student then. Now I can afford the more expensive brand, but why waste the cash. zen On: 2006-04-15Another review described the MQ24 series watches to have an "understated elegance". This model is the most "understated" of them all! If it were any more understated, the watch will be completely blank. Its telling you that time is an illusion; the future and the past are just marks on a circle. A GREAT CHEAP WATHCH !!! On: 2006-01-29I whole heartedly agree with the other reviewer. This watch is great for many reasons. The price is right. Less than $10. Come on, anyone can afford it. It doesnt weigh a thing! I personally dont like heavy watches. This is the opposite of a 10 oz Rolex or other expensive watch. It actually looks nice. Kind of a "classic" design. Gold hands and accents on black. A sweep second hand and a simple adjustable wrist band. A very simple, no-frills watch. It is my casual weekend watch that I wear when I dont need to know what day it is. It is all plastic. The bezel can be easily scratched. But, its easy enough to just buy another one and replace it if that happens. Im on my second one in 10 years and I also have a spare in reserve. Once youve bought more than one battery for this watch, you have already reached the purchase price. I hope Casio never stops making this basic model. In fact, they should expand the line to include other colors, designs, etc. GOLD!!! On: 2005-11-10How can you hold back?! You can have a stylish black faced analog (YES- ANALOG!) watch with gold details for less than $10!!! I love this watch, but then again, I love not spending a lot of money on a timepiece. Best of all, you can watch the confusion on your childs face when they ask you the time and you show them the clock. "Oh, its not digital?" Yeah, baby... this is old skool! I would only recommend against this watch if you are uncertain about the hash marks. If thats the case, look at the next casio in the price list and for (I think) $0.50 more, you can have number on your watch face... Love it! |
