I cant count the number of times complete strangers in an elevator have remarked how much they like this piece (particularly when paired with a navy suit). My hope is that it becomes available again so that I can order a back-up. . .although after two years it still works great. . . . Great Value  On: 2007-12-27Lifetime warranty, which I have used a couple of times. Watch is very thin. You do have to be careful of the crystal which is also very thin. Overall, very happy and would definitely repurchase. A real bargain and I get a lot of compliments on the watch. Nice watch On: 2007-11-11Its a Skagen. Those who know, know. Those who dont ought to. They make very very very light and sleek watches. Its a great watch for the money. I get many compliments on it. Sleek, Thin, Cool, Clean - Watch This! On: 2007-05-19Had a similar but black model in my wish list, but hadnt bought it yet. Amazon showed me this at a nice price, liked how it looked, so I got it, didnt realize it had no second hand. But have glanced at other watches at the airport, read the second hand as minute, and nearly missed a flight. Dont miss a second hand. Have a Clunky Digital Geek watch for when I need to time things, can wear that. I have a large boned wrist, but the mesh band clips allow me to go nearly to the end so it can slide a little. Once adjusted, fits just as I want, not too tight. The double clip was a bit tricky, on the left hand, the outside/top clip must be held up, then the lower part fitted, then snapped, then the upper clip snapped. Once mastered, easy. I love seeing this watch on my wrist, so thin, clean look, minimalistic, like Danish Modern. Makes me smile to see it. Even sister-in-law liked it, wanted womans version, some close. Its a watch that makes the girlies say "ooh" and makes other men cover their fossils, kenneth coles, and seikos in shame. Its not a watch that has the wow factor of lets say a tag or an omega, but its a very nice, LIGHT and thin watch for daily use in a professional or other slightly dressier setting. This watch is a great business smart/ business casual wristwatch, and gets looks like you wouldnt believe. the mesh band is extremely comfortable, but a bit unorthodox in its latching system. Nice watch--just what I wanted On: 2007-04-05I wasnt looking for a fancy watch, just a thin, stylish-looking one. The Skagen watch fit the bill--the titanium gives the watch a little class--light weight, a little dressy--I can wear it with suits and with more formal attire, yet functional for everyday use. Thin is the key, as most watches are so bulky (especially the expensive ones), and this watch is very thin. I had a little trouble adjusting the mesh band, but so far, its holding up nicely. Skagen watch have a good design, however be careful of the repair policy. There are some models they do not carry any longer and will destroy your watch when repaired and replace with alike (similar) product. Crystal Cracked with Cold...Band Clasp is Cheap/ Falls Apart  On: 2007-01-28First time I tried to put on the watch, I had to bend the tab to get the band to clasp properly. Then the adjustment piece came loose while wearing and off came the watch. Put it all back together, it worked for a couple of weeks until it again needed adjustment. It is an ongoing problem. Today I went outside. The crystal broke spontaneously as soon as the cold air hit the face. The watch looks nice, but it is poorly made. My advice would be to stay away from Skagen until they change the band clasp system and correct their crystal breakage problems. Nice design. Subpar materials. Poor, poor warranty service.  On: 2007-01-20I love the design of this watch. It looks even better that what you see on screen. The thinness is very cool. However, my band is starting to come apart after only four uses. I am very careful with my things and do not abuse them. I would expect a metal band to last a long time, but this one is coming apart on one side where its welded to the bracket that holds the pin to the case. I called Skagen in NV and they said "sorry, we only warrant the movement, not the band." After pointing out that I expected the band to last more that four days, the lady transferred me to someones voicemail in order to get rid of me. Classy, Skagen. This watch is great if you only plan to use it occasionally. Otherwise, look for something more sturdy. Other Skagen watches I own have worked great, but not this one. Great Deal. On: 2007-01-16Its a comfortable great looking watch. Ive recieved numerous compliments on it and people assume its very expensive. Fantastically Thin On: 2007-01-15Great watch for the price. Elegant and contemporary. This is my 2nd one after I accidentally scratched the crystal. This watch is so economical, it was cheaper to get another new one Skagen Steel Watch On: 2007-01-12Looks cute and stylish. Good value for money. Very thin dial makes the watch impressive. Most importantly, keeps the watch simple - no unnecessary frills added. Also, some reviews of these watches say that the clasp tends to undo itself too easily, but I think that the current version of the watch has corrected that problem. Slim design, great wrist strap, etc. Very high quality and attractive, simple design. Its one drawback is there isnt a second hand. I didnt realize this when I purchased it for use in a hospital where you frequently need to time heart rates, breathing rates, etc. I use it for more formal occasions where a second hand isnt required. another broken crystal On: 2006-12-20I work in an office and do not subject my watch to any unusual stress. Within three days of receiving my new skagen titanium watch the crystal was shattered. I have no idea what caused it. After paying $36.00 (including shipping) and sending it back to skagen for service, I received it back in two weeks with a new crystal. This one lasted only two days before shattering. There is obviously a design flaw in this watch. This one is my last one. It is junk. Do not buy a skagen. receives compliments from rolex snobs On: 2006-11-02When we married last spring my husband agreed to a white gold ring, but his watches all clashed. I wanted to get him a new watch, something slim, durable, and good looking (like him). But I am just a poor PhD student so I couldnt spend too much. I found this watch and it fit the budget and the looks. Just recently a rolex wearer told him how great looking it was, and a woman asked if it was a Skagen. When my man confirmed that it was, she said I knew it, they make great watches! Wow. Premium watch at a modest price. On: 2006-10-15If you think thin is in and are susceptible to brand-name fashion statements, this one is priced well below the same model at my local jewelers (the steep discounting tells me that maybe the Skagen trend is coming to an end). I simply found the watch less than practical. The darn clasp kept popping loose, causing the watch to fall off my wrist and occasioning several trips to the jeweler for readjustments. Still, if you like the idea of a smart and trendy Scandinavian "dress watch" thats apt to attract a comment or two, you can hardly go wrong at this price. (Forget about the pricier Skagens with the date window, which is so tiny I found it illegible.) On the other hand, for fifty bucks you could purchase a couple of Timexes with leather bands, big read-outs and Indiglo lighting. Broken Crystals On: 2006-09-06Folks, I have 3 of these watches. Why 3? Because at first I loved the extremely flat design and when I woke one day and found the crystal had cracked, I immediately bought another. Then, it too soon had a cracked crystal. I then learned Skagen would replace the crystal, (for $25.00), so I faithfully sent them both off to Skagen. In the meantime, I purchased another one. Sure enough, the first two watches had the crystals replaced as paid-for. I now had $350 invested in three watches and in the course of the next 3 months, the crystal broke in all 3 of them. I refuse to pay for any additional replacement. I am convinced Skagen has designed a defective watch. The crystals design, or its material, cannot handle the extreme flatness that makes the watch so beautiful to begin with. BUYER BEWARE! In all 5 cases, the crystal cracked without a traceable reason. Had it been one or two, maybe my fault.... somehow. BUT FIVE TIMES?? I think not. I am 45 years old and have owned many watches. Never have I broken the crystal on a single one. Great Product, Fast Shipping On: 2006-08-23The watch is wonderful! Original Packageing, Brand new, not a scratch on it (until I bumped a brick wall the other day and put one there myself). This was the best price I found after searching for this watch every day for 2 weeks straight. I was very satisfied with this purchase and I would recommend to anyone interested in a Skagen to look to Amazon before ever paying the $120+ that department stores charge for these awesome watches. Everything you always wanted to wear on your wrist, but you were afraid to buy it. On: 2006-08-15I bought this model because it looks great. I paid $100 for it from one of the department stores. From the day I bought it the watch has lost about 10 to 15 minutes a day. I thought it was the battery so I replaced it for $10 but that didnt help. In order to get it repaired I had to send it to them via special delivery which cost me $12 more. I checked my mail today and they sent me a letter asking for $8.95 for the cost of repairs or else I wont get the watch back. Im trying to figure out why Im being asked to pay for repairs for a watch that is clearly under warranty. Ill be calling them tomorow to find out. In the meantime.. dont buy a Skagen watch unless you like cheap junk and lousy service. Danish Modern design for your wrist On: 2006-08-05My fiance gave me this watch for my birthday. She knows I dont always like wearing watches, but she took a chance that Id like the looks and the comfort of this one. And she was right! As was mentioned earlier, the clasp is the only downside to this watch. But its also a big plus. Heres why... The latching mechanism itself can be difficult to close (which is why I held back one star in my rating), but its design also allows for infinite adjustment settings. No longer are you locked into a preset number of sizes based on where the manufacturer drilled holes. This band has a sliding adjustment that can be set ANYWHERE. And you can do it without the aid of a jeweler. The style is sleek, clean and definately modern. I too get compliments at work on the watch. Timeless On: 2006-07-13The Skagen Mens Stainless Steel Watch w/Steel Mesh Band is the second of two Skagen watches added to my husbands watch collection. He appreciates the sleek light weight style, as well as its portability for travel in comparison to other bulky watches. The Skagen Stainless Steel is versatile and can be worn as a dress up or down accessory. On: 2006-05-20I have owned this watch for almost 7 years. Only in January of this year did the battery require replacement. I regularly get compliments from people passing by. It is slim, durable, and has great design aesthetics. I highly recommend this watch !!! Very nice watch On: 2006-05-18Besides the styling, which you can decide for yourself based on the picture, What I like about this watch is: 1) It is a nice size for someone with a smaller wrist- if a larger watch looks ridiculously clunky on your wrist this will more likely work for you. 2) It has held up remarkably well- I tend to run into doors and walls absentmindedly and have 3 or 4 broken watches to show for it. Its also possible (but unlikely) that I havent run into anything recently. 3) The links dont chafe your skin like watches with this style band occasionally do. What I dont like about this watch: 1) I occasionally have a hard time with the clasp when I take it off; if you have arthritis it will be more difficult to take off. It will also come flying off occasionally and hit the ground (see item 2 in what I like about the watch) 2) The clasp is too much fun to open and close- It will also fly off when I absentmindedly open and close it. Its also fairly distinctive; Ive gotten several comments about it and even one offer to buy it. How about 10 bucks for it?, I was asked. (I said no) You can make your own decision if thats a positive or negative. Perfection! On: 2005-11-19This watch is the best watch I have ever owned, no questions asked. It is so thin and so light you can barely even tell something is on your wrist. Many times I have to check to see if Im wearing it or not because I dont feel it. I love the mesh band, it never scratches because its mesh! The domed crystal is next to impossible to scratch, not like any other watch ive had. I have made several small nicks on the brushed steel casing and I have simply rubbed the steel with the scratchy side of a sponge very lightly (with the grain of the metal so to speak) and it has completely removed them from sight without leaving scratch marks. The clasp on the band is great too, it slides to adjust where u want it, and it has dual locking mechanisms so that it will never fall off your arm even if you hit it on something really hard. I wear this watch for everyday use, its elegant and yet simple. I get more compliments on this watch than any other accessory I wear. It also comes with a 5 year skagen warranty so rest assured it will be taken care of. Great price for a great watch, Buy it! |
