![]() Casio Men's Casual Sport Watch (W753-1AV) By: Casio Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 50 More Information nice watch Is a very nice watch, lunar phases really cool, tides, well is almost there, gets me a rough idea were I am as far is in the general picture, not precise enough for navigational purposes, still have to have a printed tidal table, but again for less than $20.00!!! I am very happy. Great Product This is a great watch at a great price. The moon and tides are a little small but still readable with practice. I like the look of the watch and am pleased with it. I would recommend this watch. Casio W753-1AV For the money, cant beat the price and quality. Date is hard to read an certain angles. Two things I would change. One, buttons protrude a bit to the point that when you bend your wrist the mode changes. Two, the light is a regular led. Seems a bit chinsy......but for $20.....its still an excellent buy. Perfect for the beach! I just relocated to the beach and discovered I needed a tide clock. Bought this watch instead of a wall mounted tide clock and could not be happier because it is cheaper and I got moon phase and compass functions as a bonus. I can wear it too! I hardly ever use my "dress" watch anymore. The tide function takes some time and patience to set but well worth the learning curve. Pretty good I like this watch! I mainly using the stop watch when I exercising, it is really useful. Although the back light was kind of lousy, it didnt bother me that much. Great value and very functional I received this watch after reading the reviews and they were spot on.I wanted a watch to keep track of the tides and it does what it says. It is a rise and fall graph I set to the east coast where I am and I would say it is within 30 minutes of my local spot, close enough for me. The buttons from time to time get bumped and it switches modes but not a big deal reviews stated that. I was looking at the G-shock but for a 1/4 the price and with basic same features I am well pleased. I highly recommend this watch! Great Value! My husband loves this watch! It is great looking, has alot of great features and you cant beat the price! Great Watch This is my second watch like this. I had the first for 3 years and the band was about to break. A new band was $10.00 and a new watch was $25.00 so I just got a new watch. I love the moon and tide displays since I do a lot of fishing and it keeps great time. Worth buying This is a good watch with good looking features. This one I presented to my brother and started thinking that I should have kept it with myself. Not bad, but not the best either This extremely light weight Casio sport watch seems very sturdy. The look, the design are all excellent. However, the built-in functions of waves, position of moon etc. are not reliable at all. Even the compass is not reliable. But for $19.99, I would not expect all these to save me from the Amazon jungle! Also, the 4 buttons are a little over extended outside. While putting my backpack on, I have accidentally changed the display without noticing. As I said, not bad for regular sports (even Tennis), but do not rely even 1% on its navigational skills! Lasted less than 6 months Bought this for my 16 year old son. Right from the beginning it started fogging up after he got out of the water(lake/shower). In August one of the side buttons fell off, now mind you I have a teenage boy that is impeccably neat and careful with his things. Good not great Works ok once you get the lunitidal thing worked out!Buttons are too large and have a tendency to change display without your knowledge... Excellent value for your money What you see is what you get. When it comes to watches- specially sports watches- Casio is a very good quality brand. This sports watch is a very good value, you get cool design, good quality materials and some nice features (i.e Moon phase data) plus the ultra durable battery (10 years). If you are looking for a watch to time you training sessions this is the right purchase for the right amount of money. You can always go fancier but there is really no need as this watch has the key features to meet most of the needs of the semi-pro athlete. Good Watch This is my primary watch. Nice simple controls, stop watch etc. was confusing trying to figure out what to input for the lunar offset, NYCs lunar offset was not in the manual, Bostons was. It is pretty solid, been smacked around alot and under water frequently. AOK. Terrific for $19 Excellent Watch!! This watch is great. The alarms and countdown timer are my favorite functions. Easy to use and set. Highly recommend this watch. Andy & Timex Review I really love the Timex Sports watches. I like the looks of this watch but found it a little confusing to set up and operate. It is not really user friendly. In defense of Timex, I replaced the W753-AV with a higher end Timex and love it. As For Amazon, no site better. Good cheap watch Obviously there are better watches out there but this is a pretty lightweight watch with a "normal" wristband that fits and holds the watch in place. The functions are limited including a very "old" type of watch light, a little light that comes from one corner...not your fancy type bright blue or green. It has limited functions compared to some other watches, but it serves the purpose and Casio has been making watches forever. Good cheap product that will do what it says it will do. Good sport watch This is a nice watch for the price. It has more features than I wanted, which makes it fun to play around with. Complete with moon phase indicator, high/low tide, chronograph, timer, dual time settings, multiple alarms, basic compass, etc. I have only two minor problems with this item. First off, the timer feature only counts down by 1 minute increments. One of the deciding factors for me to purchase this watch was the timer, and not having the ability to count down from, say 30 seconds, was a big disappointment to me. My second problem is the back light. It is not a full face back light, but rather a little bulb on the side. It provides uneven lighting, and doesnt last long enough when you press it. You cannot hold it down to leave on the light either. However, it does have a nice feature in that you can enable the light to automatically trigger when you tilt your wrist up. This is useful, but may occasionally go off when not intended, and if left on all the time might reduce battery life. Overall, I am very happy with this watch. Dont let my nitpicking deter you from buying this quality Casio watch. EXCEL WATCH THIS WATCH IS A BAD MUTHA HUBBA.CANT BELIEVE I GOT IT FOR LESS THAN $19 INCLUDING SHIPPING. RECD IT IN LIKE A DAY OR TWO COULDNT BELIEVE HOW FAST IT CAME.IM VERY PLEASED WITH EXCEL WATCHES & WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.IT DIDNT SAY IT ON THE WEBSITE BUT THIS WATCH SHOWS A LOW/HIGH TIDE GRAPH,ANGLE OF THE SUN,MOON POSITION,& CAN BE USED TO DETERMINE A BEARING LIKE A COMPASS. Nice watch I really like the styling of this watch. Much better looking than the Timex. Also, the display is large, making it easier to see. Whatta Ya Expect for Under 20 Bucks The tide and sun functions are more of a novelty than useable functions. If you are over 40, keep your magnifying glass handy. The function indicators are pretty much unseeable. Other than that, a good bang around watch to wear fishing or during other environmentally challenging situations. Great for the price!! For a $20 watch this product delivers. Has easy to understand access to time alarma nd stop watch. There are other features too but I didnt buy it for those and havnt really mess with them. No major complaints I bought this watch because i was going to the rainforests of africa for 3 months and needed an initial timekeep while i was in the capitol city but figured it wouldnt b as important in the rainforrest and would probably get really messed up, so i didnt want to spend alot of money on the watch. I did abuse the crap out of my watch but by the end of the trip it proved to work very well and a very good deal for under 25 dollars, i wanted to keep the watch but instead gave it away to an african friend of mine as a gift, im planning on buying another one because it was a great watch, very durable, no worries about getting it soaked/hitting it over a tree accidently/dropping it off a small cliff by accident (granted it did fall on leaves)... and the tide feature was nice when i was by the ocean, i didnt think it would work (or that the tides would b somewhat diff where i was) but it proved to be true and allowed me to know if i can leave town and get back on time or would the roads be flooded due to high tide and id have to go for a swim for a nice distance... reliable, sturdy, (NOT very big like some guy compared it to G-Shock, thats just silly, its nothing that size) and dont look half bad, plus the alarm always woke me up on time (im typically a hard sleeper) and the light feature allowed me to see the time even in a dark tent... my only complaint was that u would have to keep hitting the light button after every other button u press in order to get it back on (light turns off as soon as other button is hit), so if i was setting my alarm in my dark tent i would have to set it one digit at a time making sure to hit the light every digit imbetween... but its completely doable and would not stop me from buying it again in the future... also stop watch and count down timer proved to be excellent for field research Good watch, better price I like watches and when ever I take a trip I usually buy an inexpensive digital watch for the trip. The Casio was a good purchase. It has a large digital display and sufficient extra features. It also has moon and tidal phases which I will probably not use, but price was too good to pass up. Always a nice selection on Amazon. Good-looking Watch! This was a gift for the holidays. The recipient loved it. He is 13 yrs. and the watch put him in league with his fashion-conscious 17 yr.- old brother! It arrived in great packaging safe and sound. Best cost/benefit for surfers Thats the watch for surfers and fishers. Tough enough to endure outside activities and sports. Very precise tide table. Buttons not recessed This great little watch does everything its advertised to do for a reasonable price, but has one big flaw. The four large set buttons are exposed in such a way as to be inadvertently bumped and changing the function which happens all the time. Its especially bad when using the dual time function, when an accidental bump to either of two buttons actually changes the displayed time in half hour increments. This can easily cause the missing of an appointment. Buttons not recessed This great little watch does everything its advertised to do for a reasonable price, but has one big flaw. Excellent watch this watch have a lot of usefull funtions, and it desing is beautifull, i have another watch and when i did recive this one i put the other one in a case and only use this watch Solid watch This is a great watch. It is light, comfortable, capable of doing everything you want and looks nice. I am glad I did not go for more expensive ones ! Good watch Great watch! great price! Everything works great. It has compass, tide graph, and moon calendar pretty accurate. Great for outdoor activities. According to my little research, it might have been built around 2001-02, so its battery might not last 10 years as it says, but its features are programmed to last until 2039 anyway. Large and looking cheap The watch is large and looking cheap. It can be as large as Casio G-shock. The manuals disclaimer says the watchs features (i.e. azimuth angle) are not designed for real life situations (no use, for fun only). The face seems very easy to be scratched. I paid $20.19, not worth it, in my opinion. outstanding I just tell you that this watch is outstanding, it does have a lot of option, and works accuracy. I recommend to everybody who want the cheap price and more accuracy. Casio Mens Sport Watch #753-1AV splendid the must have got all features - digital date time, alarm, tidal info, longitude-altitude, timer, the 2 ticks after every 1hr lapse which reminds you to get going, 10 year battary.. but foremost of all, good looks, go get it Nice cheap watch I own a lot of watches (something like 50 and I wear 20 of them actively.) I bought this watch as a vacation watch (I break it or lose it, its okay.) I liked the phases of the moon and tide feature. However, in reality those features dont work so well. The Phases of the Moon works okay except the display is hard to read. The tide requires longitude, latitude and tidiludinal (or some such) setting that requires a $2.99 purchase at some surfer site for each beach you might want to visit. So, that feature is useless. The watch itself is less comfortable than other Casio and Timex plastic watches and it has a "bad plastic" smell to it that hasnt gone away. The back light is weak. The multi timezone feature is useless. For $17, its not a bad deal, but if youve got a larger budget (say, $30 or $40) spring for a better watch, even if its got fewer features. Great value for money yachting watch I decided I wanted a decent-sized yachting watch with the tide shown on it as I thought it would be handy for sailing. I looked around and discovered there are huge differences in prices for watches and as I couldnt justify spending much, after some study I ended up choosing the Casio Sea Pathfinder. Now I dont know much about brands but I do know that Casio isnt a cool brand but, hey, getting this much watch for less than twenty pounds, I couldnt complain. The Amazon price was significantly cheaper than prices in the various chandlery mail order catalogues (now theres a surprise!). Please note there is a blue strap version (the one I chose) and a black strap version which I think are the same watch (at least the same innards) but slightly different visually. So, whats the watch like? Firstly, Im a woman (albeit a large one!) and some mens watches look ridiculous. This one is fine, its got a large face but not enormously so and a curved glass top so it feels smooth. There are four large buttons, two either side, which are easy to press. The main display (usually the time) is easy to see and very clear, the tidal and lunar displays less so, although you get used to reading the watch face. There are a number of different modes including time, dual time (i.e. two different time zones), moon (how many days into the moon), 5 alarms, stopwatch and countdown timer. Interestingly Ive found myself using the countdown timer when cooking (rather than a normal cooking pinger) because its very easy to set. In fact all of the options on the watch are easy to set - once youve found out your lunitudinal interval. This mystery number helps the watch know the tidal states but the little instruction book that comes with the watch only gives general lunitudinal interval locations, such as London. Armed with a set of tide tables and the watch, I discovered that London is significantly different to Eastbourne (Sovereign Harbour) tidal times. The thing I hadnt realised before buying this watch is that you can dial in the date and time and it will tell you the tide at that point, it doesnt just tell you the tide right now, so I was able to check the calculations up till December this year. Eventually, after some googling, I found a table of lunitudinal intervals along the South Coast of England. It didnt include Eastbourne but did have some other locations and, with a little trial and error, I managed to find the best lunitudinal interval which meant my watch tides agreed mostly with the Tide Table tides. And so far the tidal display seems reasonably accurate - its nowhere near good enough to use for sailing planning but is a helpful quick check when youre thinking about walking on the beach (will the dog be able to play in the rock pools or will they be covered up?) and for general interest. Being a digital watch it does have the unfortunate problem that when wearing polarising sunglasses (as I do when sailing) its hard to make out the LCD display, but this is also true for the log, depth display, radar etc on the boat and isnt the fault of the watchmaker, just something to bear in mind. Battery life is supposedly 10 years but most people will be bored with the watch by then and have moved onto the next one. The light lights up the face in the dark (what more do you need), the beeps for the alarms are loud enough to wake me, the watch overall seems perfectly adequate and it looks good. I think if Id paid fifty pound I would have been very happy, for less than twenty its a complete bargain. Go for it! Great watch for the value I love this Casio. has the 5 alarms my old one had, and many more options including the solar compass. Kinna tricky to set-up but once you get it it is quite useful. Nice watch I bought this watch for surfing. 100 meter water resistance makes it good enough to use for swimming. The tide feature comes in real handy. Nice all around watch and great price. great great looking watch with not-so-high price. Just like I wanted. It has some weird functionalities like tide indicator. You may never use it , but its fun to have such gizmo. Also it has several other useful functionalities. Shipped in perfectly, and in-time. Good watch Bought it mainly for the tides chart, it seems to be working fine. I cant pin point the exact time of the tides but at least now I have a more approximate idea. Perfect by: billphitzer On: 2007-08-31 This watch fits my needs perfectly. It is simple practicle and will last a number of years. Worth the money!!!!! It is good looking and easy to use. I just bought second one for my friend. I trust the brand as well. Amazinggg The watch is too good in looks as well as in the functions it has, when I bought it my friend like it so much I have to give it to him and I purchased one more of this. nice watch For the money its really a great watch, but it can be a little confusing. It has a navigation feature that I cant seem to get the hang of. It also has a tide clock but the closest tide table to N.Y. was Boston ?! So maybe they have a website you can look at for a closer tide table to your locale.Like I said for the money its great, maybe someday Ill have the time to figure out how it works. Great Value Pros: 1. 5 alarms with one of them having a snooze option. 2. Moon Phase and Tide forcasting, you can advance to dates in the future on the moon screen and can view the tides of that day (I can predict the tide on a specific future date). 3. You dont need to hit any buttons to determine the current tide/moon phase. 4. Countdown timer, some casios do not have this option, but this one does. 5. Dual Time Zone. 6. Sun Compass (show you an angle and you line the sun up with the angle and you can determine where North is). Each dot/mark on the watch is 6 degrees. 7. Every screen but the stopwatch show the current time. 8. Stopwatch has split times (however not reviewable - see cons) 9. Band is very comfortable with a strong buckle and is not bulky. 10. Pretty good instructions, good detail, shows the options. 11. The Price is great, other comparable watches (with good brand names) with these options run around $60. Cons: 1. I wish the booklet or a website provided the lunitidal interval for most beaches as this value slightly differs from location to location. The Lunitidal Interval is a delay between the moon at the middle of its rise/set and the following High tide. It is needed for the watch to display accurate tides. 2. The countdown timer can only be set to minutes. I can set it to count down from one minute, but I can not set it to count down from 20 seconds. 3. The band where it connects to the watch body cannot rotate past a certain point. This means that it is always in a circular arrangement and not as comfotable as it could be in a pocket. It can not be flattened 4. I wish the light was an indigo light instead of the bulb light. 5. I wish the lens was a little better protected by the outer rim. I hate scratches (no watch is perfect in this regard). 6. The indicator that shows if the alarm is armed is a little difficult to see - but it can be seen. 7. Seems to be about 4 fast after a month. My cons are more a bit of whining. I love this watch. I purchased this watch for a specific purpose, but now I wear it all the time. Great look, very comfortable, very useful. Great Little Watch I love this watch. I love gadgets and this sure is a gadget. It gives the regular time but it also keeps track of tides and the moon phase. I think it is a great little package for the price I paid. Amazon and Chelsea got the watch to me in RECORD TIME!!!!! I am still reading the instructions but I will figure out how it works within an hour or so. Great Little Watch I love this watch. I love gadgets and this sure is a gadget. Outstanding is all I can say about it. Terrific. Great..but.... the only real complaint I have for this watch is that I cant see the date!! The window for the date is right below the "12", but it is SO small that I can barely read it. I guess I would also have to say that the watch is VERY unfeminine, and I bought it because it was advertised as a Ladies. Its as big as any mans I have seen, and the black rubber strap is purely functional, this will never fall off. I tested it extensively diving in the waters of Hawaii over two weeks, it looks brand new despite rugged conditions. I bought it primarily for the tide keeper function, as a shallow water sailor that matters a LOT to me, and for that funtion it is perfect, the dial is easy to read, understand, and use. I would recommend this brand and product as long as youre more into function than style. Casio Watch Great watch for the value. Keeps excellent time. Multiple alarms. Confusing tide info. Good watch I needed a watch to perform basic functions like countdowns, timing of laps in swimming and running etc. I have found that it was easy to set but it took a little time to turn off the alarms and set the tide function. Once those were set I have been very happy with it. Its nice to have it water resistant. The snooze feature is awesome in boring classes. I frequently use the count down timer to mark the passage of time in my required history course and I use the stopwatch to see how long that idiot in the front row will continue to espouse this "globalization" stuff.
